We will never know for sure... but Bray put 288 on UF without Hunter. As I said, he was doubled on what amounted to an 8 yard hitch and had a 3 yard cushion. I feel VERY comfortable saying those numbers would have been MUCH better with Hunter.
How do you figure? Over 1400 of their 1800 rushing yards are gone. Brantley was the only QB they had that showed any consistency... and that was not "great" consistent play. They have young talent and iirc their 4th OC in 5 years. Vol fans know all too well how much fun that combination can be.
My main concern as we sit here today is the psychological aspect. UT does not know if they can beat UF. UF doesn't really believe they can lose to UT. Even if UT is the better team, the mental state of the two teams could shift the game to UF... as an UGA fan you should completely relate to that problem.
I saw the potential script for this game WAY too many times in the 90's. A team with a solid run game, balanced O, and great D comes into a game with what sounds like a reasonable gameplan. Run the ball, control the clock, keep the other O off the field... keep the game close then win it. The other team comes in, slings the ball all over the field matching their elite WR's against S's and LB's. They quickly get ahead and force the first team into abandoning its gameplan in favor of "catch up".
If everything "clicks" UT's passing O will be second to none in the country. That would have been true with just Hunter and Rogers. It is even more true with Patterson on board. Obviously there are all sorts of things that could go wrong. Maybe CP doesn't come in as strong as expected... Maybe JH isn't healed up physically/mentally. There are a million things that could go wrong and spoil the situation. But as we now sit and if everything goes as it should... Bray with Hunter, DR, CP, and those behind them are going to be tough to stop. You certainly cannot even sleep on M Lane as a receiver.
