Exactly. I can't stand how people bash fans of other schools no matter what. Not every fan is a douchebag. There are plenty of BS UT fans on this sight that I can't stand!

Back to the subject, I don't see calling the Florida game a "must win". When was the last time we beat them? 2004. And since we started playing them every year in 1990 we've only won 6 times out of the 22 years. I know they are a weaker team than their usual product, but so are we.

Beating Florida would be a huge positive and would energize the team and fanbase. But a loss, sadly to say would not be a surprise to anyone. Now NC State. That is a must win. If we drop that one, mayhem will ensue.

NC State and Gators in Knox-vagas are wins the Vols desperately need if they are to have a good season. If you come out of first 4 games 2-2, you may be 2-6 coming out of October. That happens its another lost season. Vols need NCS win to set the table and a Gator win for confidence heading into SEC play. If Vols stay healthy and play up to their capabilities thay can beat anyone on the schedule with exception of Bama but they can lose to everyone with possible exceptions of 3 non-conference games. So to answer the threads posed question - Yes NC State and Florida in Knoxville are must win games.

This current Florida team pretty much sucks on offense. Great D and good special teams but they're at best middle of the pack in SEC now. LSU, Bama, Arkansas, Georgia, are all better than Florida. They're in that second tier with USCe, MS State, Missouri, A&M, and hopefully the Vols. So if Vols want to climb out of the cellar they have to beat these Gators. This ain't exactly the juggernaut teams Spurrier and Myer fielded.

Disagree. As soon as you cross some state lines you can tell the difference. Tennessee = best people in the country.

If Vols can't beat Gators next year then when will they ever win? Roster wise Gators probably got overall better talent and numbers, but you can only play 11 at a time and Vols should have much better offense and I don't think Florida will score much on anyone. Its a bellweather game. If Vols lose their relagated to bottom of the league again because this will be only a 7-5 gator team.

If we lose to nc state in the first game of the year this site will probably spontaneously combust.

It will be an ugly thing to see if it happens

Both are must win. As others have stated, the only two that UT should get a pass on is UGA and bama.

Everything else is must win. Starting with NC STATE and UF. I'll be very happy when we beat UF. this is the year. But with that being said, we as a fan base need to SHOW UP and support our team more than ever, THIS YEAR! it will make our coming out party even more special if the fans rally behind this team. We've been beat down for too long now, and now it's time to unite and pull ourselves out of this mess.

I see NC state being the biggest struggle only cause it's the 1st game. Both teams have alot to prove. Fan support in Atlanta will go a long way.

This is going to be a very entertaining year. I look for our run game to improve dramatically, and the pass game will be one of the most thrilling in all of college football. Secondary will also improve quite a bit. If our dline and linebackers can keep the hole plugged and generate a good pass rush, we might put a hurting on everyone.

No one thought our 98 team would go all the way. And I really don't think this team cam take it all either but lightning can strike again, anythings possible.

I wish September would get here already!

I agree with all if it except the first line. You don't get a pass on anyone. I'm not saying we should win but we shouldn't be okay with losing and saying 'no no, you did your best.'

Yep. I know some UGA and UT fans who are obnoxious, and I know some who aren't. Same with all of the other schools. When someone throws the blanket "UGA fans are douchbags", I figure they never left whatever state they live in. Some folks need to get out more and see the world. You can learn a lot when you do!
