I understand what you're saying but this "too skinny " theory is overblown to a degree. I know everyone hates Alabama but Bryce Young won a Heisman weighing less than 200 pounds... The guy weighs just a tad over 200 now according to the 2025 Carolina depth chart.Manning looked pretty skinny; I doubt that number. I am old enough to remember him as a freshman. But Gmac needs some leg days. He'll get there.
You can't just use a number in terms of weight without context, though. Bryce Young is 8" shorter than GMac, so 200 lbs carries MUCH differently. Young weighed in at 204 at the NFL Combine, so if he played under 200 his JR year, it wasn’t by much. Still, carrying 200 lbs at 5'-10 is a lot different than carrying 200 lbs at 6'-6.I understand what you're saying but this "too skinny " theory is overblown to a degree. I thought I saw the other day that GMac said he is up to like 197George was listed at 195 by 247 coming out of HS. Whether it is true or not, it has been said he has put on 20 to 25 pounds since arriving on campus. If true, 195...20...25...plus...carry the 1...pie...e=Mc square...minus...carry the 9...square root of something something something = 215 to 220.
First off, no way Manning weighed 223, or anywhere close to that. It was said, he couldn't even bench press 200 pounds.
I liked your post because I believe it's overblown, as well. While Young may not have been the best comparison, he still played in the SEC and won a Heisman being on the smaller side. Yes, 190/200 sits better on a 5'10 frame, he was still not very big, though...by what we perceive to be ideal measurables; and, the talk by media and Bama people was out there about his size, also...just as it is about George......
Somewhere here, someone posted a couple of weeks ago that he had gained 20 to 25 pounds since he'd been on campus. Idk who posted it, or whether they were quoting one of our beats (AP, Hubbs...)...or, whether it's even true or not. If it is true, George should be up around 215/220, being he was 195 coming out of HS...at least thats what he was listed.I thought I saw the other day that GMac said he is up to like 197
They also said that he's had trouble keeping the weight on once he gains it. so sounds like his weight is fluctuating a bit.Somewhere here, someone posted a couple of weeks ago that he had gained 20 to 25 pounds since he'd been on campus. He definitely looks skinny as a rail. Then again, at 6'6 ( @Go Fight Win says he's more 6'7)...hell, he could be 220/230 and still look skinny at that height. They also said that he's had trouble keeping the weight on once he gains it. so sounds like his weight is fluctuating a bit.
I'm fine with folks believing it's overblown, too, and like you, if he's the best QB, he's who I want playing. I also trust the staff if they believe playing him puts him at risk of injury at his current weight and level of strength.I liked your post because I believe it's overblown, as well. Yes, George has to add weight, obviously, he does look very skinny; but, the better comparison is to Manning. If he weighed over 200 whenever he took the field in LA, he wasnt over it by much. I dont want George hurt, of course; but, if he's the best QB on the roster, I want him to play.
However, at the end of the day, I roll with Heup. If he thinks George isn't ready because of his weight, then I believe George isn't ready because of his weight.
I had heard the family was pushing for redshirting from the get go. There’s also more to QBing a team than routes on air. George hasn’t had the pressure that comes with 1st team reps.I liked your post because I believe it's overblown, as well. Assuming all of the listings are true (which I've always highly doubted; roster measurables usually being inflated), it's weird that Bishop and Young are essentially the same size; yet, Bishop looks WAY bigger than Young, even now. At least he does to me.I'm fine with folks believing it's overblown, too, and like you, if he's the best QB, he's who I want playing. Manning is the better comparison. Heck, Nico is the most recent comparable player. He was listed 10 lbs heavier than GMac at 205 lbs on the 2023 roster as a freshman and looked like a toothpick. Bryce Young, while small, was far more proportioned and compact. He was built like a lot of modern day RBs who take hits on every play. DeSean Bishop, for example, is 5-10, 200 lbs. Guys that size just carry the weight differently.

I agree with your statements but he’s done more than routes vs air. Not all against 1st team but he looked the best in scrimmage according to all reportsI had heard the family was pushing for redshirting from the get go. There’s also more to QBing a team than routes on air. George hasn’t had the pressure that comes with 1st team reps.
I'm glad you cleared that up for me. Here I was thinking we played 7 on 7.I had heard the family was pushing for redshirting from the get go. There’s also more to QBing a team than routes on air. George hasn’t had the pressure that comes with 1st team reps.
True, but Young was less than 6 feet tallI understand what you're saying but this "too skinny " theory is overblown to a degree. I think the implication is that he was closer to 180 when he got on campus. I could be wrong but I thought 190something was what I heard him saySomewhere here, someone posted a couple of weeks ago that he had gained 20 to 25 pounds since he'd been on campus.
