'26 NC OT Jabian Shabazz (Tennessee commit)

Huge Potential at Tackle but like 98% of OL need there development time. Great Job Coaches and Coach E is getting it done these last 3 recruiting cycles. Patience though and is needed in OL Play. In CHRIST Alone
when you recruit the best, they don't. and we're doing that

The Scout

“JB Shabazz is a big, powerful tackle, who I think really showed nice improvement as a Junior playing for one of the better programs in the Winston-Salem area in North Carolina. The first thing that stands out about him is that he has a really good combination of functional movement skills and functional power and play strength. He is light on his feet. He can really lock up defensive linemen and create movement in the run game. I think he fires up the ball and has a lot of power at the point of contact. He can really be a people mover. He has good upper body and lower body strength. He is light-footed in pass protection and has good reactive quickness. He has made strides in that area. To get a better picture of his athleticism, you can watch him play basketball. Just a big, nimble mover at his size. I think he gives Tennessee another strong offensive tackle pull from the state of North Carolina. This is a guy who I think projects as a starter long-term. I think he can play both sides of the offensive line. I think he is what Josh Heupel and staff like along the offensive line. A guy who we have liked in the top-100 for a good chunk of the cycle. A really nice get for them out of the state of North Carolina.”- On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings, Charles Power.

What does this mean for the Vols?

Tennessee continues to recruit the offensive line well in this cycle. Shabazz gives Tennessee another tackle prospect with immense upside in this class. He is only going to improve as his craft is refined at the college level, but from a physical standpoint, he is going to be ready once he comes into the program. Tennessee continues to lay an impressive foundation upfront in this class, and Shabazz is another impressive prospect to add into the mix, along with Ed Baker and Gabriel Osenda. The Vols made the most out of getting Shabazz to campus in June. Ohio State and South Carolina treated him like a priority for months, so for Tennessee to close on this one is as impressive as any in the cycle.

So what is next?

Tennessee remains in the hunt for Kamari Blair, and the Vols are continuing to compete with Ole Miss in this recruitment. They continue to be in the hunt for Darius Gray. Neither have a definitive timeline in place for a decision. Additionally, Tennessee continues to remain in the hunt for the likes of Salesi Moa, Tristen Keys, and Savion Hiter, as well.

Glen quietly putting together a good Oline class. Could be his best at the end of the day.
Quality big guys are a segment that was really impacted those first two recruiting cycles when the NCAA hammer was way in play. Even the third cycle was impacted due to late starts in relationship establishment. Let’s get 1-2 more off the cream list and celebrate.
