'27 NC EDGE Andrew Rogers (Virginia Tech commit)

Very strange. Apparently Rogers - who just saw back to back VT games (losses), was scheduled to be back there this weekend for an OV, but the VT staff told him they wanted to reschedule it. Seems like he took that as "cancelling my OV" so he has now scheduled an UV here this weekend.

VT 247 mod thinks it's a miscommunication but definitely opens the door here for us. Also thinks our offer hasn't been committable to this point...

Has AP said anything about him having or not having a commitable offer?

Would be a great pickup. That would give us 5(!) edges in this class. Although IMO Golston ends up a SDE.

Also like that he’s had a lot of reps going against Faizon in practice. As good a competition as it gets to prep you for the bigs
Of the Edges we have in the 2026 class, Groves is most likely to end up at SDE. He's already over 250.

ok AP is not good at communicating (perhaps nature of the $9.99 biz he's peddling)

but i gather from that: he wasn't greenlit pre-Hezekiah flip so as not to scare him off, but now that he's in, Rogers may now have the green light..?
He just clarified. Sounds like it’s also related to us maybe conceding defeat with Givens.

In my opinion… Harris and or Givens were ahead of him on the board and with Givens pretty locked in with Texas A&M, then Rogers moves up

Got two different edge positions with LEO and the strong end. Both have very different body types (i.e Tyre West type or Kellen Lindstrom type vs James Pearce Jr.)
Assuming this kid grows into a SDE. Already listed on 247 at 240lbs. And isn't he a year young having reclassified? I'm for taking as many linemen as possible. Winning the trenches is essential.

Yes, he’s only a Jr but will skip his senior year and graduate early.

With scholarships going to 105 (assume 103 for Tennessee with the NCAA sanctions), might as well take as many studs as you can get. Numbers will not be an issue.

Money will, at least at the bottom of the roster. Still will need kids willing to play for comparative peanuts; ones that want to play at UT just out regional ties or some other developed loyalty. That’s why I like the idea of taking some of these 3 star kids around the state. If they have potential, you’re gonna need depth like that in the spot where a walk-on once was.

One thing that immediately helps the money situation at the bottom of the roster is revenue sharing. Revenue sharing is going to lead to a less volatile portal too I predict as even non NIL-rich teams will have money to retain players.

that's ugga homer bait ^^

I shouldn't engage..but..

Dereon Albert, Darryl Rivers, Ethan Utley, Isaiah Campbell, Mariyon Dye, Charles House in last cycle and this cycle combined

and we are targeting another DT to finish this class. That's 6/7 guys who will play at 300 lbs inside. Dye is the only one who will flex SDE as well.

also sounds like this kid may end up inside too.... bruh lfg
I’m talking about landing some 300+ pound DTs that are ranked at the top 10 in their position. Not top 10 guys that are 3 techs or 270 pounds. We need a true replacement for Omari Thomas and this staff has yet to land one

Imo, you can count edge, sde and dt together, im sure most of these guys will slide around. Like this guy, he is already 6’6 250, I can bet money he is either going to end up at dt or sde
There’s a major difference in landing a 250 pounder that tops out at 290 here and landing a guy that’s 280-290 and ends up pushing 320 by the time he leaves. We’ve landed a bunch of hybrid guys, but not a true DT

Guys don’t typically come out of HS weighing that much and it be good weight.

Rodney Garner is the biggest reason we got out of irrelevance and back into contention. Prob even more so than Heup. You’re quite obviously a cheap troll, otherwise who would criticize the best coach on staff for his recruiting.

Agree. My point was in response to the number of Edge rushers we’re taking. Take as many as you can get. Because we’re not limited by numbers.

This ****in jabroni keeps yapping

If we recruited 300 pounders he would be pissed they aren’t 270 and fast and athletic and then if we recruited 330 he’d pretend the 300 pounders are superior

But yet every year our DL is legit. Like bro just email Rodney at this point idk!
