On Tennessee: "Tennessee has been recruiting me hard. Tennessee was one of the schools early on me to offer me. I've always had a tight relationship with the Tennessee coaches. When I went up there this spring, Coach Willie (Martinez) and Coach (Tim) Banks are definitely big for me, those are two guys I definitely respect and know what they're talking about, they check on me and make sure I'm good. They make it seem like I'm a priority for them. After being up there, seeing it again seemed right. You want to feel like a top priority for a school and Tennessee definitely does that."

VISITS TO VIRGINIA TECH, TENNESSEE ON DECK​

The top junior from North Carolina is set to make his way to Virginia Tech (June 14) and back to Rocky Top (June 23).
"Virginia Tech is one of those school that I wanted to get to this spring, so I have to go make sure I see the coaches," Matthews said. "Going up there, I'm excited because I've heard good things about their stadium and this whole coaching staff."

Tennessee has done a nice job of getting talented four-star cornerback Samari "Smoke" Matthews to campus multiple times. Matthews' recruitment is continuing to intensify, and he tells us he will be back to Rocky Top for the Alabama game. Clemson and several others are involved here early on.
