NBA Playoffs Thread

I like Gasol, JV, and these big guys in the regular season. You know I love Gobert...but when you get to the playoffs and see the elite teams these guys run into problems. In 5 years every roster might look more like the Rockets/Warriors/Celtics. Gobert will be in real trouble (and he'll also be old).

Eventually there'll be another generational freak athlete thats like 7'2, 300 lbs, and the league will freak out signing stiffs trying to stop him.

I agree, but the rules and style of today would still neuter him a bit. If Shaq played today, teams would have a hell of a time defending him. The rules actually make it easier to defend him, vs. Shaq's time, but one of the things that made Shaq so good in the Laker years was they surrounded him with 3 point shooting and today the average team can shoot like them.

Hiding Shaq on D was the furthest thought from anybody's mind. He clogged the paint and that was great. Teams today would try to get him on the perimeter and go at him until he tires out. He could be lazy as hell and still be the MVP back in the day.

I agree with that, it was just you saying Ewing would have no chance. Less effective and minutes sure, but there are a good 8-9 "stiffs" starting now, and his 1 dribble 8 step drive from 18 feet would still be effective.

I think Cleveland has a decent shot to win game 1 tonight. Just have a weird feeling (I’m probably wrong).

Ewing was way more athletic when he was young than the guys yall are talking about. He would dominate most big men today. He was as athletic before his knees got bad. He could shoot too. If he played today he would be hitting threes. They didn't play that way back then. And I was no Ewing fan. I was a Hakeem fan.

He didn't shoot until he was old and slow, right? He wasn't all that great of a shooter. I loved the Allan Houston teams and I'd cringe every time he shot a jumper.

He had about a 5 year run where he was a pretty athletic force for the time.

Decent? I think its more than decent. I think the Warriors are a little overrated this year. Lebron is playing at an insane level and his team is better than some think.

Thompson hurt.

But clearly it wasn’t intentional.

JR slipped and happened to land underneath Thompson when he was going after the ball.

Only Draymond could hit a guy in the face and get a tech for *****ing that he was called for a foul
