He said he was accounting for Rose and Westbrook being injury prone. At this point, I'd take any of those guys ahead of Rose who at seasons end will have played less than 20 games in the past two full seasons. Obviously that will change if he can ever get healthy and consistently stay on the court.

Rubio is a pretty god awful shooter. But is more careful with the ball and a better passer.

Ballhandling is the most basic role of a PG. Assist to turnover ratio is the the most complete measure of ball-handling/distribution ability.

Westbrook is 40th in a:to among PGs that qualify...44 PGs qualify...

I don't think he's an excellent defender, but I haven't watched him a ton or anything. The fact that you don't really need to cover him on the offensive end has to matter, right?

100%, no question I'd take Rubio over Westbrook.

I do factor in winning. Have you noticed how the T-Wolves win less without Rubio, and OKC wins about the same without Westbrook?

Well, he's shooting 35% from 3, which is average, so it's not like you can just leave him alone.

Basically there are 4 areas of contribution that I look at for PGs: distribution, scoring, defense, rebounding (last priority).

IMO, Westbrook is only good at defense and rebounding. Rubio is good at distribution, defense, and rebounding.

I would take CP3, Parker, Conley, Curry and maybe Wall.

Curry is a bad defender but he's really damn good on offense.

He's not Westbrook.

Yeah, but the Grizz had a great team and OKC wasn't used to playing without Westbrook. Take any starting PG out of any (otherwise competitive) playoff series and replace his minutes with Derek Fisher and see how the team does.

How is Rubio a better rebounder when Westbrook has a career higher rebounding percentage?

The Grizz had a solid team. Not a great one.

Westbrook is overrated, but he's still a damn good player. You are underrating his defense.

Westbrook isn't good at scoring? Lol efficiency isn't the only measure of "good".

On average, Westbrook only has a slight advantage in this area, but Rubio's skill set allows for more consistent play. The risk/reward with Westbrook is greater because he takes so many shots. If he has a good night, he has a strong impact on winning. If he has a bad night he makes winning a lot harder. Rubio might shoot 25% one night and all that means is he missed 6 shots. For Westbrook it means he missed 15 shots.

I can see why risk/reward style players are tempting (and more entertaining), but I prefer the reliability of 8 assists, 3 steals, and only 3 turnovers per night Rubio offers.

He's been a good scorer in the past, but is a weak distributor, defender, and rebounder. This season he's been bad at scoring. He shoots below league average efficiency, and he's taking more shots than any guard in the league. No bueno. He's just not smart...yet.
