Damn huff, the Pistons lost by 25 last night to a Sixers team that hadn't won in about two months. Imagine how ugly it would have been if your hero hadn't thrown up that 8-6-2.

That's an average night for Hibbert if he plays 35 minutes and that was a bad 24 minutes for Drummond. Do you want to go there?

Just saying. Will you at least concede that Hibbert MIGHT bring some positive contribution that wouldn't necessarily show up on a stat line? I've probably watched 90% of their games this year and he does effect the way teams have to play due to his height. IMO, basketball isn't a game that can simply be reduced to numbers like you try to do so often.

Hibbert's bad games this year =

Philadelphia - 8 and 5 - 4 and 3 (in 30 minutes...oh the irony)
Cleveland - 11 and 5 - 15 and 6
Minnesota - 4 and 5 - 4 and 5
Milwaukee - 4 and 6
Utah - 2 and 4
Golden St - 12 and 3
Charlotte - 4 and 4
Houston - 9 and 3
New York - 11 and 6
Phoenix - 6 and 4
Denver - 5 and 3
Detroit - 6 and 4 (interesting)
Miami - 6 and 2
Atlanta - 2 and 4 - 8 and 6 - 10 and 5
Portland - 4 and 6
Orlando - 6 and 7
Dallas - 4 and 7
Chicago - 3 and 5
Memphis - 4 and 0
Sacramento - 10 and 4
Washington - 12 and 6 - 8 and 2

I had no idea he has had this many terrible games.

He definitely contributes, he's just not having a very good year. The rebounding numbers would suggest he's either playing injured or aging fast. His rebounding was never all that impressive, but it was good, and now he's gone on a stark decline, which can only be explained by a lack of mobility or physicality, IMO (maybe effort, but I doubt that).

He went from 10.6 rp36 in '12 to 10.4 rp36 in '13 to 8.3 rp36 this year, and it's trending downward. His blocks are significantly down from last year, too. Something happened to him.

Being a freakishly tall goon is his greatest quality. In today's NBA, when it's next to impossible to find a good big, he struggles to even be decent.

How a guy that stands 7'4" can be so mediocre at rebounding is baffling.

He's 7'2" (not that it makes much of a difference).

If anyone remembers watching this kid early at G-Town you'd be impressed that he can even get any rebounds. Kid has worked hard to get even average strength and coordination.

He should be able get 10 boards by accident.

lol.

Pacers aren't built to need him rebounding 10+ like some teams need their centers to. Lance and Paul are good rebounders and benefit from Hibbert alterating shots.

That being said, Hibbert can be clumsy and simply doesn't get boards. But again, he's on a good team that helps his lack of them.

Just gonna leave this here

Like the post before you mentioned, Hibbert's main contribution isn't always necessarily going to show up on the stat line. He's there challenging shots on most possessions, but obviously not particularly fast, so a lot of times on missed shots he'll just head on back up the court and leave the rebounding for West, George and Stephenson.

I agree they don't need a ton of help on the defensive glass, but they struggle offensively (22nd). Hibbert hit the offensive boards a lot harder last year and Hansbrough is a great offensive rebounder...they were 5th in the league.

But his bpg stats do capture that contribution.

Also, his defensive rebounding numbers haven't changed much, it's offensive rebounding that's sharply declined.
