Navy Seal Team Six.

I can think of 5 groups in our "Elite" arsenal of specialist that could have pulled something like this off. They're all virtual Ghosts to the public, during and after their service.

I'm cool with that.

What would those 5 groups be? I'm asking as I'm not real familiar with our elite spec ops groups. I heard seals for this and just assumed that sounded right.

My knowledge is limited so I'll go off the top of my head with:

Delta Force (Army)

Special Forces (Army)

Special Operations formerly known as Force Recon (Marines)

Seal (Navy)

Rangers ( Army).

The Air Force Pararescue is pretty cool. They specialize in recovery of personnel in combat conditions.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Force Recon, 75th Ranger Regiment, and the PJs could not have pulled this off. Not even on a cold day in hell.

ODA could possibly pull it off; however, IMO, it seems highly unlikely that they would ever be tagged with this mission.

Regular SEAL teams...hah. Not a chance.

I disagree with SEALS being less than first, period. Each group is undoubtedly comprised of incredibly brave, physically freakish and noble souls - but SEALS set the standard.

And anyone who believes that it was anything other than SEALS who stormed that compound and were hovering overhead is simply practicing a round of wishful - and wildly unfounded - thinking.

MOB6 is no regular SEAL unit.

Which is why I used the qualifier "regular".

However, DEVGRU does not set the standard, CAG does.

/discussion :hi:

All I know - and I say this without a hint of smart alecky smart assness - is that when it came time to get OBL, the call went to DEVGRU / MOB 6, and no others.

This was no maritime mission, and any of the groups previously listed could have been tasked with it - but weren't. Maybe there was a more important mission to nab a more high-profile target in a more tenuous locale, but I'm not sure how it can top the SEALS landing OBL.

Inter-service rivalry. McRaven is the head of JSOC; he gave his guys the nod.

Call me crazy but I could climb 3 flights of stairs and shoot a female in the leg and then shoot an unarmed man twice. Not to mention having 23 other people helping me. I know they are badass but they have had harder missions just not as high profile.

I opted out of selection in order to stay in a line infantry unit. Why? Because that special forces sh** is way too ****ing easy.

So you agree that you can shoot a gun on a third floor of a home too?
