National Reactions

If they do what we all seem to think they're on the verge of where will a better job be (besides the NFL)? Another SEC team? If they're trying to hire him it's most likely because we're beating them so it would be a step back. Ohio State? USC? Penn State? Texas? Notre Dame? While all of those are good jobs are any of them really a move up if he restores our national prominance? And it seems he has proven it's not all about money for him (see his and our assistant coaches salaries); so perhaps I'm being naive but I don't see him leaving us unless the right NFL job comes along.
Of course with the NFL that could be next year.

All ready before the first kickoff everyone is talking retiring and leaving in 2-3 years. Monte talked passion like I've never heard in awhile. He mentioned playing in front of 65k fans and he lite up with just the thought of 107K fans!.

I'll tell you this...the first time they run thru that "T" you won't hear about retiring or leaving for a very long long time!

This is just my opinion, but I don't think any of our new coaches will talk about leaving until they get a national championship here at Tennessee. It seems to me they are confident they can get one here in a pretty short time (3-4 years). After that then you might hear of talks about retirement or whatever.

that orange Power T looks great on that blackground
also, when O said, "No one......no one will out work us. Going to stay up late and get up early, no one will out work us." WHOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!

I dont have any impact on who gets fired or hired, so I am not worried about when they will or wont leave. I am just looking forward to what our football team will look like on the field come fall. Go Vols kick some ass!!!

Coach O also brought up Reggie White and that's always a good thing.

I dont quite get why everyone assumes this staff will be bolting after a few years. Sure Monte won't be here forever because of his age. But there are alot of coaches, even young ones, that once then get into a successful college situation they stick around. (i.e. Pete Carroll, Bob Stoops, Mack Brown). You don't think all of the guys could have left for the NFL?

If Lane (and maybe O) do well at UT, I could see it being one of those type of situations. If things don't go too well after a few years, well then....:dunno:

I've heard Stoops name is being mentioned as a candidate for the Broncos.

"You come here as a player, you will be coached," defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin said. "With all due respect to the coaches in the conference and around the country because there are a lot of good coaches, I am not going to say any better, but you cannot go wrong by coming to the University of Tennessee."

I cant wait to see Coach O running on the sideline yelling at Eric Berry as Berry runs back an interception for a td forced by serious pressure from Ben Martin on (insert sec qb here)

I can't beleive we are actually worried about how long these coaches will be here. I guess we should have hired a coach that we knew would be here for 15 years and a mediocre staff that wouldn't be recruited as head coaches. Yes, Monte will retire a Vol. It may be 2 years or even 5 years from now. That is why we brought in O to eventually take over. We should be excited if other schools try to hire our coaches. That means we are a top program. If Lane decides to leave, it may be for the NFL. I don't think he will go anywhere else in College football. Hamilton left room to give him raises for production. I think we should be excited and enjoy the ride or as long as it lasts. This is the most excited I have been about UT football since the National Championship year.

Totally! Monte and Ed are awesome.
I hope that recruits take time to watch these pressers.

Why wouldn't they stick around for a long time if things are good?

Lane is going to share the spotlight when there is great success. When this works out, Ed & Monte may stick around a long while. What else is Monte going to do? He's done it all. Ed got his fill of head coaching already and I think he is going to love his role at UT. O is not a HC he is made for what he is going to be doing for us now
