National/local media reactions for Pruitt hire

Dawg Nation article reflects the amazing arrogance of UGA people. One season out of the last 20 where they actually played up to their talent level and they are back looking down their noses at everyone else. Ive coached in that State and Pruitt found a bunch of entitled punks and some whistle blowers disguised as coaches when he got there. What he didnt count on was his expectations exceeding those of a Head Coach who had gotten comfortable and complacent. UT will have some underachievers to leave, and good riddance. It's a new day with new expectations and a hard nosed tough-minded attitude.

What is Tennessee Getting in Jeremy Pruitt - Dawg Sports

"At that time, I would say half the players on our roster were very good athletes and the other half were straight up stealing. By stealing, I mean getting an education, food and housing for free without having a shot to see SEC minutes. Pruitt was fully aware of this and this increased his intensity tenfold. He basically made half the players so uncomfortable that they really had no other choice but to transfer. He needed more room for his players."

I expect significant player turnover. We might have a rough year next year.

That is the kind of intensity a head coach should have. If you have kids that know they aren't going to play or don't deserve to play, how much effort do you think they really give in practice? Which means, if they aren't going hard, your starters aren't being pushed. If your starters aren't being pushed, they aren't growing and developing. This is a VERY important aspect to coaching that is often overlooked. Part of the reason Alabama's offenses can be so effective at times is because the past few years they have been going against the best defense in the country in practice. I am excited to hear that our new coach won't accept this.

Great hire considering what we would have had. I am a bit offput by the fact that an sec power school is only paying it's head coach 3.8million hopefully we are paying him 5million after he wins back to back natties.

Every Bama fan I've talked to is pissed he left.

A lot of them wanted him to take over when Saban retired.

Not a ton of insight there considering Bama fans are one of the most ignorant fan bases in the country, but it is a stark contrast to the indifference shown by UC fans in 2012.

My best friend is a huge Bama fan (he can't help it). Texted me earlier about the hire to congratulate me and also mentioned him taking over when Saban steps down.

That's the only thing that worries me that I could see happening. In a few years time, if he gets us back on top, he may bolt for Bama.

Maybe he'll stay thinking I've rebuilt one program and got it to where I want it (winning), so I don't want to start over. Heck, maybe UT could be his legacy like Bama is to Saban, Peyton to UT. Even Les Miles turned down his alma mater to stay at LSU.

As for the Dooley comparison, never got any texts from my Bama friends about him being a great hire. Matter of fact, I don't remember people here posting about fans on the Bama boards being pissed off Dooley was hired as UT's head coach either.

Bama can get Dabo when Savannah retires. If Pruitt wins an sec championship, we better lock him up with a 50m buyout.

Dabo is far ahead of Pruitt right now so you can bet that when nick saTan retires the Bama bank trucks will pull up to Clemson to bring Dabo back home.

VFL...GBO!!!

If Jeremy is wise, he will remember that things rarely turn out well for the immediate successor of a legend. Alabama's current fan base is spoiled to an extent that is perhaps unprecedented in college football history. They will not respond well when those every-other-year national championships come to an end.

His kids are little too. They might just make Knoxville their home for a long time. Wife/Kids weigh into the equation, and yes, whoever coaches at Bama when the next mediocre team hits - they will want his head. Hard to believe that will come, but it will. These things are cyclic. Unfortunately, UT's cycle is 180 out of phase with Bama's right now. It'll change down the road.

CJP and his staff will coach up and get the right fit recruits in.
It’s a long shot, but they might have an excellent 2018 season.
9-3 regular, with bowl win...10 win season would be epic story, and
UT will be back on the SEC Block. No doubt!

Georgia fired a very successful coach and were fortunate enough to get a new coach that has done even better than him.

Yet they still will look down their noses and say we deserve the Kiffin-Dooley-Jones karma for firing Fulmer after he started underperforming. I don't know what kind of cognitive dissonance is required for that level of hypocrisy but it is astounding.

To hell with UGA fans, I hate them every bit as much as gator fans or bammers.

They also are coming off a season when the two other powerhouse teams in the East, UT and Florida, had their worst seasons in years... ever for UT. They better hope OU doesn't smack them down in front of a national audience.

You can say that again. Whoever follows Saban, even if it is a coach as accomplished, successful, and capable as Dabo, will feel immense pressure to replicate Saban's success. It's one thing to arrive at a school and build the school's expectation level that high. It's quite another to arrive at a school and already have the expectation level that high.

Their fans will give Saban's successor two years to either win the SEC and/or make the playoff. If he isn't able to do so, he will be fired even with regular season records like 10-2 or 11-1.

The last season Alabama did not have a chance to win the national title at the end of the year was 2013. 2013! Their fans are so incredibly spoiled and don't even realize it.

I will be absolutely stunned if Ok doesn't blow them out.
