Tropical system currently developing in the Caribbean. It's forecasted to become tropical storm Nate. I'm currently vacationing in the Florida panhandle until Sunday, and it's projected to make landfall in the area on Sunday afternoon as a potential low-end hurricane. Here's to hoping it doesn't strengthen too much.

Be careful. We’re leaving tomorrow God willing for Florida. We’re staying around crystal river.

Just My luck too! We are going on vacation to Gulf Shores in Alabama and I wake up this morning to this! Awesome! My luck is just about as good as Tennessee's this year...:furious3:

If it stays around a TS/Cat1 level we'll probably just deal with it while we're there.

If it makes landfall around NOLA I wouldn't sweat it, especially if it's a Cat 1 or 2. I lived in Gulf Shores when Katrina hit. We had one day of high winds and heavy rain but no major damage. Keep an eye on it and call the place your staying on Saturday.

We leave on Friday so we'll probably just ride it out unless it wildly gets stronger.

The tracks taking it mostly west of Mobile seem encouraging, plus I'm hoping it spends more time over land in Mexico and that neuters it a bit.

I was scheduled to leave on Sunday from Destin, but I'll probably end up leaving a day early. It really all hinges on the track.

It has moved a little bit east again. I'm thinking Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area will be about as far as it goes. I'm not worried about the wind, just the storm surge and flooding. Tropical storm and storm surge watches have been issued

It has moved east a little. Gulf Shores will have a rough Saturday/Sunday but not devastating. Pensacola will be windy and rainy.

Edit: UGH, It keeps shifting east and is already a Cat 1, 12 hrs earlier than predicted. If you are scheduled for Vacation from NOLA to PCB, check this in the morning. Good thing is that it is a fast mover, so it may only delay your vaca by a day.

I'm in Destin until Sunday. Leaning to leaving tomorrow morning.

Yes, go north. Head to Mason and have some original Gus's then hang out for a few hours, go across the street to Bozo's BBQ. Best end to a vacation that was ended early by the weather.
