Just checking in a couple of days before I head down there.

Is there any big tailgate you guys are planning before the Vandy game? I'm sure I'll see plenty of Vol flags flying but looking for one I can easily spot/be welcomed at...

Thanks for all the advice on dining/entertainment, I've got my places picked out. A few Jets fans and I are going to be hitting up Sam's Place on 21st Ave S on Saturday night... any thoughts on that place? It's gotten good reviews.

I will be tailgating on Natchez Trace right on the road across from the practice fields. You should stop by for sure. I should be out there just after 6 in the morning. They have a big projection screen playing games in the road....i'm a couple hundred feet down the road.

Sam's might be my favorite sports bar in Nashville. Great food and atmosphere. Get the club house club sandwhich. You can't go wrong!:good!:

Awesome... whether I make it out there or not probably depends on how early I actually get up. 11:30 am kick is rough! lol

There is plenty to do on West End. If you want to eat some good food go to Watermark on 12th ave. Also have a Yazoo, it's brewed in downtown Nashville. Dan McGuinness and Blackstone are good places to visit too. All in which are in your hotel area but do go down to broadway and visit Tootsies. If you realize the history of the place and the people that have performed there it will be more special.

I'll second that. Don't miss it.

You should also check out Loveless Cafe A true Nashville institution.

Don't miss the scene on Lower Broad. Robert's is always on my list when in Nastyville.

You said you don't like country, how about bluegrass? If you're a fan, you should hit up http://www.stationinn.com/ They have live music almost every night and most of it is world class.

I'm coming over from Memphis, meeting a couple of other lawyers who are Vandy Law grads- one flying in from Richmond, the other lives in Nashville. We are also doing the Station Inn Saturday night. I've never been there, but my host and hostess say the bluegrass is out of sight. We are also doing the Titans game Sunday. I'm not an NFL fan but I'm always up for a party.

Anyway, it would be cool to meet some other VN folks. If you are at the Station Inn Saturday night, look for me and I will buy you a drink. I will be wearing orange. (Void where prohibited by law. Number of drinks subject to limitation depending upon demand and my post-divorce budget.)

Far be it from me to question the mods, but this thread is about people in Nashville next Saturday for the Tennessee-Vandy football game, what to do while there, and possible meet ups, etc.

Not sure while it got moved to the Pub. Similar threads about games at other away venues and in Knoxville normally remain in the main forum as far as I recall.

But what do I know?

I believe the SteelDrivers are playing at the SI on Sat., which means you are in for a real treat if you like bluegrass.

If you are 25 and want some good scenery you need to go down to Music Row on Demonbreun St. Go to Dan McGuiness then Tin Roof after midnight. The Red Door Saloon on Division St. is a nice little dive, too.

Hillsboro Village is a good second option though.

Someone earlier mentioned Hermitage Cafe for that late night breakfast and I would agree. It's the best.

I'm surprised Music Row hasn't been mentioned until now. It is mostly college kids and young professionals, a completely different scene than downtown. Tin Roof has a good house band, and the place next to it (it was Chi-Town years ago, but has changed names about 11 times since then,) is good for a calmer drink before the party starts. It is a lot like the Village scene, with a bit more energy, and it isn't far from 25th and West End.

Does many people go to the roundabout/Music Row area in the afternoon?

I'm going to assume that this thread fully covers the downtown, West End, Hillsboro Village, 12 South and Music Row stuff. If you have transportation, another option is to head for Green Hills (about five miles south of Hillsboro Village on Hillsboro Rd.) and go to Bandywood Dr. There are three good sports viewing venues very close together. The Greenhouse Bar has two large LCD televisions and several small ones and will most likely be showing whatever the two most interesting games are in terms of SEC and BCS championships. A couple of doors down is a new place called the Crow's Nest, which has a plethora of televisions and very good food (similar to South Street). Down from Crow's Nest is Joe's Place which is more of a dive sports bar but is known to show PPV games on the big screens. The Corner Pub is also in Green Hills and is a very Vol-friendly sports bar, albiet somewhat small.
