10-4. Sometimes it's hard to tell what the intention is the smilies.
No worries.
However, what breakfast join do you prefer in Nashvegas?
i drive it everyday and that's about right. I figure I should get my BBall and Football fix the same weekend.
Don't worry about not liking country music. Many native Nashvillians don't- it makes my ears bleed, personally, so you won't be alone- just be prepared to see some crazy tourists. They're all into straw cowboy hats this year for some reason.
Food- casual dining: Noshville (Jewish deli) and Calypso Cafe (Carribbean) are two of my favorites. The Pancake Pantry is overrated and overrun with tourists. Las Paletas has great popsicles. Gigi's Cupcakes for well, cupcakes. That Spinkles place in LA has nothing on her. You might also want to check out Prince's Hot Chicken. For more upscale, I really enjoy F. Scott's (20s jazz bar). All of these places a relatively close to midtown- Prince's and F.Scott's being the furthest out. I'd provide links, but I'm on my phone.
Attractions: The Parthenon in Centennial Park (West End/Vandy area). It's a full scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens. Inside is a gilded statue of Athena, which I believe is the largest indoor sculpture in the Western world. The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is divine. Downtown Franklin is awesome, if you have time to visit.

I'm staying on West End Ave right by the university, should be walkable to the campus but obviously not downtown.
Hey all, I'm going to be headed to Nashville in a couple of weeks for 1) Vanderbilt-Illinois basketball 2) our Vols-Vandy game (I do plan on rocking the orange and a "Thank you Coach Fulmer" sign)
and 3) My Jets knocking off the 10-0 Titans (ummm... maybe)
So anyways I'm sure a lot of you guys either live there, or have made the trip a lot. I hear there are lot of exciting things to do there, vibrant downtown etc. Keep in mind I'm not really a country music fan... do you guys have any must-do and/or must-see places for dinner and to see during the days/nights I'll be there?
Also what is the gameday experience like from your guys perspective at Memorial Gym, at a Vandy football game, and at LP Field? I've heard great things about Memorial, it seems like such a unique and loud place. I know Vandy's football stadium is small and I'm sure for UT-Vandy the stadium is probably 50/50 or so. And I haven't heard much about LP.
Any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated, thanks!
Yep, if your staying on West End down by Vandy, you will need a cab or you can ride the MTA bus. I hope your not staying at the Holiday Inn. The wife and I stayed there the night the Titans played the Colts, and its a piece or crap. They are remodeling it, and we had no water for part of Monday afternoon, and the noise was horrible. Not to mention the ungodly rates. The Exit Inn over on Elliston Place (1 street north of West End) has some great live rock and alternative bands. You can look them up on the web. Hillsboro Village, as stated above is where the Vandy kids hang out. They are nice, but really snobbish. Stay away from Church Street west of I40 unless your into the alternative lifestyle. You might get hit on in that part of town!
I can't remember the name of the place, it's a little dive down 8th avenue close to Zanies.
sure haven't...what is it?

Monnell's is good - I think it's in the "Germantown" area - someone may know a better locale.
Its funny that all my suggestions are food places... i guess that explains the gut.
