Ricky, you forgot the only real argument you have. We wouldn't need 1/2 the cops, judges, attorneys and only a 1/4 of the prison guards so you can't have that.

The "war on drugs" is a failure time to take a new approach.

So you're defining absent as "not living with his kids"? That's stupid, but at least we now have an end point for this discussion.

No, the article defines “absent” as the biological father being not involved. There are literally hundreds of articles and statistics that show that fatherless homes are significantly higher in the African American community. I don’t know why you continue to debate this well documented fact.

The Washington Post admits it’s much higher in the African American community but blames it on other factors; President Obama addressed it several times; and working in the inner city it is extremely rare to have a parent/teacher conference with a father present much less at home. You can keep burying your head in the sand all you want

Not living there is absent enough. You can produce some study where X percent does a good job parenting even though they dont reside at the home.

1. That X percent will not be worth a damn when at least two thirds is the starting point.
2. The x percent will never be as capable as actually living under the same roof.

Go reach some more.

Most of them were American citizens (more Democrat terrorism). Blacks weren't citizens until 1868, with slavery being abolished a few years prior. Reagan cut checks for $20k to all survivors in the 80's, and I think everyone received some sort of payout eventually but it was only to survivors or the children of a person interred there. I'd wager 99% of blacks today have zero proof that anyone in their family was a slave. Sure, they most likely were, but there is no tangible evidence to support any of their claims unlike the Japanese who were documented in the camps. Then of course you have the blacks who came (and still come) to this country after slavery was abolished. They can't claim anything. 600,000 plus dead and freedom should be reparations enough because no amount of money is going to fix any of their problems.

It would definitely be difficult to definitively prove a family member was a slave, beyond just passed down family history unless the actual documents from that era are still available.

A bit of Census data here to highlight the difficulties in genealogical research.

Slave Schedules were population schedules used in two U.S. Federal Censuses: The 1850 U.S. Federal Census and the 1860 U.S. Federal Census. Slaves were usually not named, but enumerated separately and usually only numbered under the slave holder's name. Prior Census records provide even less information.

The 1870 census was the first census to identify all Black Americans by name. This Census also included the following questions.

Birthplace: state or territory of the United States, or the country, if of foreign birth.
If the father or mother of the individual were foreign born, signified with a check mark or slash.

Scroll through the 1870 Census records and it’s extremely rare to see blacks list a foreign country of birth or marks under foreign born parents. Most list an actual State as their birthplace.

If you go even further back in history, slaves were freed in the colonies as early as the 17th century with regulations on manumission beginning around 1692. Some freedmen in this period became landowners and slaveholders in their own rights.

Anthony Johnson was one of the first African American property owners and had his right to legally own a slave recognized by the Virginia courts. Held as an indentured servant in 1621, he earned his freedom after several years, and was granted land by the colony. He went on to become a successful farmer and slave holder.

The majority blacks that entered the colonies in the early to mid 1600’s came in as indentured servants and not as slaves.

Perfect Ras response. Lmao...

It says a lot that nobody knows what race you are Ras. Folks here respect you because of your opinions and intellect...it has nothing to do with what your skin looks like. Nobody would know what race my sisters are either by talking to them or chatting online. 2 are black and 1 is white...but even I couldnt tell who was who if they didnt sign their names to their posts.

That's how it should be. Despite what the media and the MSM talking heads try to convince everyone...that's the way it actually IS for the vast majority of us Americans. We do not give a damn what color skin people have...we are all just trying to get by and do the best we can in this sin cursed world.

Shame on those who attempt to divide us for THEIR political gain. Shame on the media who stokes the flames of unrest...until it is at their OWN doors like CNN...they didnt incite riots when the mob was outside...shame on the Democratic party for trying to play the black folks again ...and shame on those who use this fake problem to make excuses for their own problems and mistakes. Shame on the very, very few people who actually do have hateful feelings based on skin tone.... what miserable existences they must have in order to waste their time on that hate.

I am not fooled by this bullcrap though. I know that we are better than this, as people and as a country. As always, I welcome your input though brother.
It is quite obvious that there is a full court press to divide and impoverish us.

There have been theories that the CIA is the one big drug cartel that all the other cartels work for, and that $$$ pays for off the books black programs.

Ummmm...that’s not really a theory until you get to the part of others working for them. Airplanes unloaded in Arkansas would definitely lend credence to the first part. 🤷‍♀️

I'm fundamentally opposed to putting people in jail for drugs, so it isn't really important to me how many "offenses" they have. It's not the job of the government to protect people from themselves.

And there are still mandatory minimum sentences for simple possession (see below for example).

Ounces of what? Coke? Reefer?

They would still sell cheaper more dangerous versions of drugs and would still fight over their territories.

I don't care about the employer issue, and i don't care what private citizens do in their homes using drugs. What i care about is the huge impact it would have on society in terms of thefts/child abuse/DUI traffic deaths/danger of them hurting themselves and others while seeing things and the impact of medical/hospital/emergency services. During the opioid crisis, EMS/police/Fire answer on average between 20-50 calls A DAY just in Knoxville for ODs and drug related patients. Imagine that x1000 and the cost of healthcare for these people would be astronomical
That's usually because the states where it is legal tax it too high or make it expensive with regulations.

not just that....there were a lot of factors that led up to it. Most persons with addictive personalities/genes got hooked no matter what drug they took (weed, pills, whatever)

The drug addicts, gangs, the government, CMS regulations, doctors, politicians, pharm companies, are ALL to blame
But only the sellers and users are punished.

. . . . The majority blacks that entered the colonies in the early to mid 1600’s came in as indentured servants and not as slaves.

That is related to life expectancy of newcomers to the colonies and many not living through the (usually) seven-year period.

The US had a perfect opportunity during Reconstruction to make things right while they were giving homesteads out west to European immigrants...

I think that people have a right to be bitter and cynical when they have lived long enough to see what has happened to our country due to liberal policies, and a subpar public school system. I don't respond directly to Luther.
No kidding.... it’s absolutely disgusting and blows my mind how damn stupid and weak the general public has gotten. oh I’m offended by this and by that.... I need a safe space..... we should have open borders....Speedy Gonzales removed from Tv because it’s racist..... the list is a mile long

I went from thinking him ignorant, to a troll and then to just plain stupid. I respond once in a blue moon. He either doesn't respond or comes back with something stupid. Trying to reason with him is like trying to reason with a spoiled teenage girl.

I liked Speedy Gonzalez.
