I don't normally follow NASCAR, but I'm going to watch the race tonight, or at least have it on in the background while I do other things. :)

Figure we'll hear several mentions of the upcoming game before and during the race.

For those interested:

Channel: NBC (EDIT: Boca says NBC-SN, to be precise ... that's 159 on Dish, 220 on DirectTV)
Coverage begins: 7:30 p.m. Eastern / 6:30 Central
Race starts: ~8:15 p.m. Eastern / 7:15 Central

The end of this race begins an 11-day race of a different type, to transform Bristol from NASCAR track into football stadium. Clean-up crews will swarm the infield and stands, and trucks will begin hauling in gravel as soon as the NASCAR teams clear out.

Go Vols!

JP watch some of the race. Night racing on a short track is the only good racing left. The red glow from the brakes will amaze you. It was better before they changed the banking but still a good race to watch. Hope it don't get rained out.

You got it man, I'll do it.

Last time I watched a car race was standing in the infield of Nashville's speedway on "amateur night" maybe 10 years ago, with my brother-in-law who sometimes crewed for one of the amateur drivers. A dude in a dented and bondo'd 70s era Chevy Impala just about drove over us that night, was hella fun.

I will definitely watch some of the race...want to really get a feel for Bristol as a race track before seeing it as a football stadium.

You gonna be there tonight?

It's not on NBC. It's on NBCSN which is channel 220 on Directv.

Unfortunately can't make it. Retired due to health. Couldn't do all that walking but I'll definitely be watching and soaking up the cold PBRs

Green flag is at 8:19 if the rain stays away. Raining there now. If they can't get it in tonight it will be tomorrow afternoon or Monday. Turn around will be interesting if it is delayed.

It'll be a solid show. The spring race was decent and they put some grip on the bottom groove. Watch it. They've been talking about the game a lot too.

The track as been resurfaced again. Supposed to take away one of the lanes. Hoping to bring back some of the bump and run style that bristol was known for.

Last night the top groove came in early in the race and seemed as it went on to be the preferred line.

They are also advertising the game during the race. The Woods brothers' #21 car is painted in a Virginia Tech theme. I would assume that someone will have a Tennessee themed car as well. Bristol tweeted out a photo of 2 Nascar helmets representing both schools.

Hope the VT car gets a resounding round of boos when it appears!! 😄🏈‼️

It won't Blaney doesn't decide the color scheme. It's the Wood Bros. entry which is a NASCAR icon. I'll actually be pulling for the 21. Some of my favorite shopping places are on jap crap and government motors vehicles. Nothing I can do about it. Pearson was my driver in my youth so I pull for the 21 because of him and I also pull for the 43. Hope Aric can bring home another trophy for the king.

No cars running Tennessee colors or designs tonight. VT paid to sponsor the 21 car tonight.

Blaney and the VT mascot were booed by the crowd during driver introductions.

He knew it was gonna happen. He said start the booing. Woods Bros. is located in Staunton and there is no team in TN. Don't reckon Roush would paint a car for Trevor. Thunder and lightening going on now.
