after 98, fulmer felt entitled and bulletproof. none of the really great coaches seem to let themselves fall into that trap (bryant, saban, summitt, to name a few), but what happened to u.t. was far more mike hamilton's fault than fulmer's or kiffen's. he bungled fulmer's firing just as he did pearl's. the kiffen hire proved out to be a fiasco. then, he gave a losing coach from the bush leagues a five mill buyout. call it the hamilton era. he'll always be remembered for hires like todd raleigh and derek dooley.
