Naming this era in Tennessee Football

after 98, fulmer felt entitled and bulletproof. none of the really great coaches seem to let themselves fall into that trap (bryant, saban, summitt, to name a few), but what happened to u.t. was far more mike hamilton's fault than fulmer's or kiffen's. he bungled fulmer's firing just as he did pearl's. the kiffen hire proved out to be a fiasco. then, he gave a losing coach from the bush leagues a five mill buyout. call it the hamilton era. he'll always be remembered for hires like todd raleigh and derek dooley.

I'd say "Left at the Station". During possibly the most important point in NCAAF, where new lines were being drawn about who the real players are, we had some horrible horrible leadership.

The lost decade? The defenseless debacle? Dooleys folly? The time mis-management years? Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?

Its been 4 years, not a decade. Lol

Let's face it, we've basically been down since '05.

We had success in '06 & '07 left with Cutcliffe and we haven't seen anything resembling a good football team since he left.

Both seasons during Cut's return were better than '05, but really didn't come close to the level of late 90s or 2001.

'06 was fun coming off '05 disappointment. FL loss hurt - very close game. LSU last minute loss was very disappointing. Arky game was embarassing. Bowl loss to PSU was very disappointing.

'07 was a mixed bag. Disappointing opening loss at Cal. Blown out at FL (59-20) and Bama (41-17). Beat Arky at home. Trailed Vandy 24-9 in 4th qtr - finally woke up to eek out a win 25-24. 4OT win at Kentucky (52-50). Tough loss to LSU in SECCG. Close win over Wisconsin in bowl game.

The 2 "good" years were not the norm. This is the 6th season of the last eight where we will not win 8 games.

We are Tennessee and that is simply UNACCEPTABLE.

Much closer to a decade than the 4 yrs you mentioned.
