You have got to be kidding me. You listed Aaron Ausmus. He is the absolute last person I would contact about returning to the Vols. He turned his back on us and when we needed some stability to be with a little spoiled troll. The hell with Ausmus.

you sure that's the way it went down?

Blah, blah, blah....we'll fawn over whoever the next hire is simply because he took the job. Due to the nature of the job even the most knowledgeable on the board have no idea how to evaluate a new hire in the SC department. It is much easier to critique/evaluate a position coach or a coordinator.

Vercy hit the nail on the head.

Thanks for letting everyone know on the first page that you don't really understand how college football works. I played college ball, and having a top notch S&C coach is essential. He is more important to you than anyone except the head coach, your coordinator, and your position coach, except in the offseason, when he is more important than those guys too...

Hmmm - did you just say the S&C coach is the most important coach a player has, except for every other coach he has?

Just messing. Agree it's a crucial role, especially in off-season. I trust Dooley to find a good one, with appropriate emphasis on character as well as S&C.

That does seem like what I said, doesn't it. I should have put more emphasis on the offseason part of the post, because that was what I was going for. I agree that there may be more S&C coaches available than position coaches, but you need someone who relates well to the players and meshes with all the players, as well as convey the emphases set up by the HC.

I'm a college football coach...

Yep me too. So instead of going out there and recruiting I think a better plan of action is to argue on a Vols message board about a S&C coach. Don't choke on your whistle sir, those things can be deadly.

The way this forum worships S&C coaches is absurd. The guy kiffin hired from uscjr was the best strength coach of all time, then we moved that title over to ausmus and after he left wylie was the supreme master of s&c. Can't wait to fawn over the next guy.

This is not a big deal. We get excited for every S&C Coach that comes around. Ausumsuses, Black Fury, and now the friend of the Lone Survivor himself. It's also kind of gay. Just saying.

Hahahahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahah this made my day!

This.

I'll trust DD to find the best S&C coach he can get to fit his vision for UT Football.

When other schools are raiding your staff...that's generally a sign that you have (or had) a good staff.

And as it goes with the coaching staff, so too will it soon be with the roster.

Just keep reloading.

Within two years, UT Football is going to go on a nice four or five year run. Yes, we're gonna need some breaks...all good teams seem to get them...but I have a really good feeling about Derek Dooley.

So, let's wait and see...

Go Vols.

this.... if he claims to be a coach and is not out recruiting right now... couldn't he list the best S & C coaches in america and the methods for evaluating them so he could enlighten us ignorant posters on how to get someone in shape? lol
