Name some Vols you played with or against in high school.

Jimmy Colquit punted against my team one game.... I think every time he punted, everybody just stood in awe. He could flat out boom it, never saw anybody kick higher. Chris White (I think that's his name) played QB for Bradley Co (again, I think.. many many moons ago) we played them in the quarter finals. He was DB who didn't start until his senior year, and became all SEC. Was at Johnny Majors' football camp just prior to Reggie White's freshman season, was able to hang with him quite a bit. Regret cussing in front of him, didn't realize he was a minister at the time!

man I feel old all of a sudden...

Tim Priest, and now Chris Donald played for same high school (Huntingdon). I played against Justin Harrell, and Patrick Willis (ole' miss- 49ers now)

Todd Helton went 5-5 against my summer league team at twitty city in nashville. he hit 3 homers that game.

I played JV baseball for Bearden when we played Central in spring of '92 (?) and I remember Todd Helton hitting at least two homeruns during the varsity game. The JV game was already over so I was just sitting on the bench and watching the show.

I worked alongside former 1985 Sugar Vols Terry Brown and Charles Benton for a few years.
Terry was an SEC ref for a few years.
Both became good friends of mine to this day.

Two good ones, where are you from, I live in Murphy and watched Carl from midgets on up

I played against Jimmy Streeter, we beat them (Sylva) and went on to win the state championship that year 1974.

I have a picture of me trying to tackle Streeter and my feet are flying out from under me grabing air.....elusive, and a tragic story for Jimmy.

East Montgomery Eagles...lost in 88 state semi's to Heath...lost in 89 state semi's to Pickens...both of their respective teams went on to win the state championship.

Man...I really wish I could add to this thread...but the only guy I played against (I cant even remember his name) in the 1982 playoffs got a scholarship to Tennessee Tech or some such....

....I played in 1-A at the time...not exactly a hotbed of talent.

Now, now. Show some love for Benson Scott. Respect.

Didn't Cozart have problems with drugs, or something? My Dad's high school buddy was the announcer for the Lenoir City basketball games when Cozart was playing, so I got to see Cozart's skills up close. Amazing athlete, but I think he squandered his opportunity.

Benson was the 2nd holder from Farragut, 1st was Jason Price.

Cozart was a great athlete but just...well...not very bright. He had just failed the ACT the week we played them in bball and our student section gave him hell. Not really a guy I'd want to make mad either.

He was good last year.
Ive moved now so I won't be playing with him next year.

But against our rival Seabreeze with about 10,000 fans attending the game (Seriously) he made an awesome go ahead touchdown catch to finish off the undefeated regular season.

He made alot of big plays and he's pretty physical.
Id say he has huge upside for his senior year.

You must be a Mainland grad. I went to Lopez (back in the 80's when we were consistently a playoff team)

Did you graduate from Farragut High? I'm class of '95.

I played against future Vols Von Reeves (Austin-East), Brian Spivey (Jefferson County), Tracy Hayworth (Franklin County), Randy Hall (Knox Halls), Randy Jenkins (Knox Halls), Jason Julien (Knox Halls). Also played against Leroy Thompson (Austin-East, Penn State, NFL), Joey Smith (Austin-East, Louisville, NFL), Joe Fishback (Austin-East, Carson-Newman, NFL), Mike Caldwell (Oak Ridge, MTSU, NFL), Orion Cox (Oak Ridge, Georgia Tech), Eric Thomas (Oak Ridge, Georgia Tech), Gary Dandridge (Tennessee High, Appy State, drafted by Seattle, played in Arena Football), Brent Collins (Jefferson County, Georgia/Carson-Newman, Dolphins practice squad), Todd Collins (Jefferson County, Georgia/Carson-Newman, NFL) and was teammates with Mike Faulkerson-Dulaney (Dobyns-Bennett, North Carolina, NFL)

John Henderson & Buck Fitzgerald Pearl Cohn H.S. The star of that team was actually Santonio Holmes who went to Bama. My QB was none other than Reggie Grimes who went to Bama as a DL. Do you guys remember Ron Slay? He went to PC before transferring to Oak Hill Academy. Slay and Henderson played on the B-ball team. We (Hunters Lane) got slaughtered every year by the Firebirds.

Did you play for Hunters Lane?

Played basketball with Eric Westmoreland.

Road to school with him and his brother every day.

i played at morristown west. i played against Tyler Maples and Nick Reviez (spell) in a scrimmage, dennis rogan in a scrimmage

I played against Reggie and Raleigh McKenzie in HS. I was on the kick off receiving team and had to block Reggie. I didn't think that he saw me comming, but I was wrong. He caught me with a forearm under my face mask and threw me back several yards and hardly broke stride. I remember all I could do was look back while laying on the ground and hope that he didn't make the tackle. He didn't, then I had to figure out what sideline was mine, but I spent the rest of the game hoping that they didn't score so I didn't have to do that again. Luckily they didn't. It was a rough way to start the season.

I didn't get to play on the same team with any Vols in H.S.

But,
I sacked Corey Fleming (Stratford) in a scrimmage.
I got run over by Mose Phillips (Hillsboro) , even though he didn't even weigh 200 lbs. back then.
I ran away from Duane Dotson (Hendersonville) when I saw him coming towards me.

It's Dewayne Dotson. I almost got in a fight in a driveway in Joelton with him & 2 other dudes. He was the smallest one. I was home on break from UT and we started talking about that & the other 2 guys were like WTF? I think they brought him up there thinking he would scare me (it worked). We ended up talking for like 10 minutes & he left.

Played against Joey Kent in high school. I had to cover him. It did not go well. Basically, by the second series playing cornerback, I was turning around and running towards our end zone in hopes I could stay with him.
