if we had the same talent and depth and our def staff is in their 2nd or 3rd year.out of the 5 losses who are we beating?this is the question i'm asking, because right now we're not on the same level as our biggest rivals.just a fact.we got close with the talent we do have.

before,(you're saying we don't have enough talent to win).yes,we have enough talent to win but we're not on the same level as ga,al,sc or fl.saying we don't have the same talent,is not a bad thing.it just means we're still rebuilding.

i'm saying richt and spurrier because neither stopped our offense.

Thread did not work out well for OP

actually I think it did. None of the coaches mentioned are thought to be good coaches. And none of the schools are really that good football schools (some slight exceptions).

You (and those that agree with you) are saying Dooley is good because he is (in your opinion) better than Franklin, Joker Phillips, and John L. Smith?

Wow, some good competition there

And he's not better than James Franklin. Franklin has exceeded expectations both on the recruiting trail and on the field.

It all comes down to a couple of things...money and recruiting. Tennessee is not happy that they are losing money..to get back the money they are losing, they will need to put a better product on the field. To think that Dooley will not out recruit Nick saban or Les miles, one would be living in a dream world if he thought that was going to happen. You see.. Tennessee has gotten spoiled. We have grown used to winning and to go 5 years not winning is not going to cut it. Tennessee has to get a big name that is respected and the top tier talent want to play for. That is how you get the top players to come to your school. If you heard any of the top players beating on the door to play for dooley? No. Dooley has done a pretty good job for someone put into the situation he had been put it...but....He will never be able to to pull the talent needed to compete with the elite teams in the SEC. Look at the recruiting classes for the last couple of years...where does Tennessee sit? Tennessee does not sit well in the rankings. The bottom line is Tennessee will have to get that big name coach, or settle for losing to it's arch rivals every year..and beating Kentucky and Vanderbilt should not be the high points to every season when we need to be beating Alabama..Georgia..and Florida on a constant basis..GO VOLS!!!!

In the last 2 years, Joker Phillips has twice as many SEC victory as Doolander.

And has beat Doolander breaking a 26 year streak.

Most basketball schools like Kansas and KY have bad coaches as well, but thats intentional because they don't want to spend the money.

Comparing recruiting classes the gap is widening. We also had more talent than MSU and UK and were embarrassed by both.

I think if you put any of these coaches at Tennessee with the talent Dooley that has had over the past 3 years and any of them would do as well or better than he has. Joker Phillips beat us with a WR playing QB, i'm sure he could get more out of Tyler Bray than 0 and 5 in the SEC for 3 straight years.
