I get it, but he did pick Milton over Hooker. None of these guys are perfect. They still know more than us.Imagine being a casual fan thinking you are a better evaluator of QBs than a guy who’s a national championship winning quarterback and proven SEC head coach all before a single game has been played.
I’m not at practice with these guys so I have no idea who is better, but JA is your starting qb. It’s not always simply just about talent/ability. There’s so much more to playing that position and experience matters.I'd have to disagree. If GMac is the best option, he should start then. I don't see any signs that JA is the best option and I'm sure he's a great guy.
And this is why the offense has struggled IMO. We have had no chemistry carry over from the previous season and I don’t blame this on CJH I blame it squarely on NIL. I am afraid the days of keeping a QB and receiver combo for multiple seasons is long gone.Just one comment about your statement. If true that experience is the deciding factor, CJH will have to bring in a transfer every year because, barring an injury, the 2nd and 3rd QBs will never get experience.
If Joey starts, it will be the 4th straight year a new QB has started. And of course next year will be guaranteed a 5th straight year (unless NCAA just drops the rules game) of a new starter. It has worked pretty well so far. Portal starters are the future I guess.
This is a fans perspective that doesn’t have to worry about getting fired. If you as a coach (heupel) thinks JA is the better chance at winning games this year by just 1% then that’s who you play. Coach is getting paid to win games this year, not being paid by what he can groom Merk into in another year or two. JA was playing with inferior support at App State and still managed to have some big games, all while running for his life and throwing to 1 stars. If coach H thinks he’s our best shot then I’m ready to see what he can do with some SEC support. Time will tellNot gonna disagree.
Think about it, what do we gain by JA starting, his stats from App St are not that good, he hasn't shown anything in practice that stands out either. So, if him and Merk are even remotely close you play Merk. JA is gonna be gone after this year and if Merk isn't playing, he's gone. That leaves GMac and whatever transfer that comes in for next year. You know Heupel probably isn't playing Faizon as a freshman.
I don't get it. What are you saying?I had no concerns about Aguilar at all... until I saw that picture. Just sayinView attachment 763329
Well, Milton is being praised by his team and Hooker is on the way out, so… not bashing Hooker by the way, just saying that Milton’s talents are hard to ignore day after day. Milton was apparently much better as a practice player than Hooker as well, so hard to take a shot at Heupel for that.Remember that time Heupel thought Milton was better than Hooker?![]()
This is not earth shattering news to anybody, but the sooner Heupel pulls the trigger the better. We need Joey getting as many first team reps as possible with the opener approaching in just a couple weeks.
Unless something drastically changes I wouldn't be surprised to see Heupel make the call at some point soon after Friday's scrimmage.
JG gets a lot of unfair hate from our fanbase. Kid was tough as hell and was the starting QB for arguably the most dysfunctional program in college football at the time.I had no concerns about Aguilar at all... until I saw that picture. Just sayinView attachment 763329
