5150, you ever had to sell a product in your life? Yes, the are heralded as great recruiters, but they aren't selling a freaking car. It's about building relationships over years to get these kids here, why can't you understand that?

Do you really think had we gotten a "competent HC" (who would that be in your book btw), and they had had the same amount of time as CLK, that they would have done any better?

The more of your sh*t posts that I read, the more convinced I am that you aren't a Vol fan, but a troll from another SEC school.

I did too, I've moved beyond that and am excited by what I see so far. I'm ready to see what this group of coaches can do in the fall.

Would Gruden have done any better recruiting, has he ever even recruited?

With the $$'s we would have had to pay to get him, our assistant staff would be pretty thin right now.

No, but you'd probably find something else to complain about and waste bandwidth with. So the essence of this conversation would be the same.

I bet Kiffin could beat Wyoming with the new recruits.

5150. Look at the depth of our previous team. Look at how many 5 and 4 stars we already have. LK went to recruit for his needs, and not just anyone so he could boost pre season rank. Yes I think Creer is a good HB. Yes I think Coleman will be a good QB. Yes we have an all american TE that will get used in a pro style, yes we have the classic UT WR. Yes we had the number 4 defense in the country, and probably just had the best defensive recruiting class in the country. No one will pass deep on us for 4 years. While other schools probably told each recruit you will be a star here, Kiffin told each possible recruit you can earn your spot. (isnt that what got Fulmer in a mess with Clawson/Ainge and Crompton/Coleman/Stephens/Berry/G Gun (god who didnt we have at QB) Kiffin isnt concerned about his job, and I highly doubt the other level 10 coaches we have aquired are either, after all... most left good situations to help come rebuild the T, so intent is unquestionable.. And here we have you. Not even giving this thing a chance.. So tell me what would work Coach 5150?


You must realy know your football man. Stay at home next year. I will have fun, people like you gave true UT fans free seating upgrades all year last year.

i just love the fact LK gave praises to the fans for helping in recruiting some of the kids.

"I also want to thank who ever painted 'Nu'Keese for Heisman' on The Rock. That helped too." - I mean, that is just awesome he mentions the fan support and being at the basketball game. Eric Berry and his support. We had some of the top recruits in the country in Knoxville to see just what we are cooking. I wish we had a huge recruiting base in Tennessee but we have to recruit the majority of our talent out of state which has to be even harder for a new staff. It has to be hard to sway these kids away from home town support telling them everyday to stay home.

Stealing two recruits from Florida who are N. Champions and SEC champions, I mean, who wants to go play there? I give our staff full credit for every effort they made to bring in a huge class and without a few de-committed players, we would have really stunned a lot of critics, a lot of our own fans too. Let's get this soap opera over with and get to the real battle. Hard work and preparation for next year.

Seriously... 5150 has got to be the most annoying member of this board. Why don't you wake up and smell what you're shoveling? What are you whining about... the fact that we didn't bring a new quarterback on?

I'd much rather have the number 15th ranked class this year without a QB, with an eye toward 2010, than the 7th best class that includes a guy that will ride the pine for the majority of his collegiate career. Seriously, what's the deal with all the negativity toward Kiffin? Give the man some time to implement his plan. Oh, and by the way, the comment about him "owning" this class is something only a dunce would say. He and his staff have been on the job for weeks, not months.

5150 is like when you have this really good steak that 's been cooked on a grill and you are ready to cut into it and then someone comes by and pours a whole shaker of pepper onto it. Hey 5150 - :moon2:

We will see a lot of these young men playing on Saturdays - great quality and they all seem to be of high character.

:thumbsup: i'd also add that this staff has only been together in it's entireity for two weeks....and CLK did most of the recruiting himself for the first 8 weeks or so.

but no need to add logic or reason in to this blab fest for people that have no idea what they are talking about.

Logic is something a lot of people obviously don't have Jake. :no:

If Kiffin can't coach or loses games like we have the last 8 years, then I'll be the first one to say he SUX. Untill then, lets wait and see.

Lets take a look at Kiffins to do list over the past 3 months.

1) Assume control of a program that was coming off its 2nd losing season in 4 years
2) Interview/recruit and hire an entirely new coaching staff (including new S&C coach)
3) Glad hand the boosters/Alumi
4) Be around for the birth of his child
5) Attempt to win over current players to his system
6) Do tons of interviews for newspapers/radio and TV to generate buzz about UT
7) Restructure the entire recruiting process
8) Evaluate the current roster
9) Evaluate the recruits the former staff had recruited/offered
10 Oh.....and still actually recruit a top 15 or 25 (depending on where you get your info) class.

Yeah, hes a total slacker. He should have had time to fix that pesky global warming thing too in his spare time. Give me a freaking break. Ive never used the ignore function but you are getting very close to being deemed worthy. How about giving the staff more than 3-4 weeks to get things rolling chicken little. FFS.

this class as a whole was mediocre by fulmer standards. but, i'm willing to take adam's advice and wait till next year's class to make a judgement on l.k.

Since LK was hired, this "falsehood" has been propagated in attempt to help justify his hiring. Now I'm sure that the excuses will be flowing in an attempt to put a smiley face on what happened today, but when Mississippi State out recruits you, you're just not that good. LK was never a "great recruiter" as was evident today. I received alot of grief when I said as much when he was first hired. Unfortunately, there are many more falsehoods about LK's abilities that will evident this spring, and (more importantly) this fall.

Sad day to say the least. And for all that want to bring PF into this, please spare us.........LK owns this class. Congrats LK.
