Man if he wanted to make this class ranking better he could have kept some guys like bryce petty and tahj boyd. But like he said in his press conference, this is not about getting the number 1 recruiting class its about getting great talent that fit his system. Dude you are stuck with Kiffin for 3 more years atleast, give him a break. Lets just wait and see what happens.

Welcome to VN BoroVol20! Just be careful about trying to reason with some of these guys. It'll drive you crazy.:banghead2:

Coaching is what he will be judged by NOT RECRUITING.:banghead2::whatever::furious3:

Sorry to break this to you abvol, but there is a direct correlation between success in recruiting and success on the field.

spring football hasn't even started. if we end up with the same record and the same type of recruiting class then feel free to copy and past your paragraph from this thread to a new one at this time next year.

A majority of folks here proclaimed Kiffin an "outstanding recruiter", that immediately brought back "energy & excitement" to the program. Do you now acknowledge that all that talk was pure hype?

I think you're missing the point. This class doesn't mean that Kiffin is a bad recruiter. Nobody can come into a situation like this staff did and pull out the top class in the country. :dunno:

Sorry, I had forgotten that after watching OUR team the last few years. Thanks for pointing that out. BUSTED!

Let's see....two top 5 classes were on the field this year...weird isn't it.

wow can the administrators just delete this ridiculous thread. I mean come on its so pathetic to be calling Kiffin a failure. As previously stated has he lost a game yet? And im glad we were goin for quality and not wasting money on guys who would prob never play.Recruiting is huge yea and I believe this is a good class especially with the small amount of time our new coaches had to get these guys! Next year will be even better as far as the class goes. But it is vital to realize that the most important thing is what this class and the whole team is able to do during the season. Even if you don't like how things are going you still need to support the team you claim to be a fan of. And if you cant do that and all you can do is moan and groan about the coaches and players maybe you should find some other team to support. God knows at this time one thing we do not need is pathetic/ignorant negative feedback........End rant!!! Thanks!

Kyle Whittingham and his Alabama beating Utah team beg to differ.

Don't say "nobody" can. That is simply false. If we would have hired a proven winner as coach we would have had a better day. But what has LK ever proven? That's the point.

I am amazed by everyones comments that Kiff and gang will Coach em up(the recruits). I have never been a Fulmer supporter and never will but who in their right man can say CLK is a better head football coach than Phil. 90% of his peers admit it was a joke to hire him and none seem to respect him. I hope he proves me wrong but I see a sinking ship!

What's even more amazing, people not giving Kiffin and Co. a snowballs chance in hell to do anything before the first game is played. Didn't this happen with Fulmer when he replaced Majors as well?? It's like Deja-Vu.

The mark of a good coach is those he surrounds himself with. The coaches Kiffin has assembled are proven coaches, we just have to wait and see if he can manage them effectively?

Vols5150 do you just say things to try to cause problems??? I know people like you, I have professors like you. All you want to do is question things and argue with people in order to try to make yourself feel smarter. I'm sorry you have confidence issues.

Just become a bama fan, you sound about as dumb as one! I don't have to come up with things to support my opinion, nearly everyone else on the thread has done that for me!

OK....you have limited credibility criticizing the new coaching staff with your login name.....let's see. Vols5150. If I had to break down 5150 how would I break that number down? Let's think, 5-1-50.....who has that birthday?

Why would I ever think you are a Fulmerite?

I'd bet you could probably tell me where Vicki broke her nose on the snowmobile.

It's way too early to tell, of course. Recruiting is a two-year job, not a six-week job. We'll know how well this staff recruits next February. It's stupid to hire guys to build a house that you know takes three months to build, and then get pissed and call them failures three days into the job.

As far as "energy & excitement" goes -- sure, I think Kiffin brought some of that. He got a bunch of high-profile kids who were previously uninterested to at least take a look at UT; with a full opportunity to recruit them next year, he'll probably reel in more of them. He stole a couple of guys from under Urban Meyer's nose. He kept several of the best in-state prospects home for once, and while he didn't ultimately land Brown from Memphis, he had us right in the mix up until the last second -- whereas under the previous regime, Brown wouldn't even have been thinking about us. So yeah, I'd call that energy and excitement. I'm interested to see how that all plays out next year, when he's had a full year to recruit kids and can do things like bring them to visit on an actual gameday.

I'm not smoking crack or drinking Kool-Aid (tm); there's just no reason to be miserable yet. And I can't understand why anyone would want to be so miserable about the hire that he'd look at absolutely everything related to UT football in the worst possible light. Isn't that exhausting?

Very Nice. Welcome to the board. :hi:
