I had to give up reading this thread on Page 3 when the religious debate took over, but any time you want to post some positive, uplifting news like this feel free. Great read, and great to hear about # 7.

I'm new around these parts -- is Rex a minister? (Minister of Defense?) If so then what else would you expect from a minister than to have a take on the character, morals, and yes religious beliefs of the players?

Go Vols!

All of you that want to turn this into a debate on one point of Rex's post, please take it to another forum... the Pub or Politics forum is fine.

LOL rjd! I was thinking the same thing about the bathroom breaks, wondering if it was a 6hr drive any other time. (Having been there twice myself I know what bathrooms mean to a pregnant woman!!)

Happiness is a choice, and non-Christians make the same choice daily.

And if you're a Christian, it means something to you to when you hear others have accepted Christ. There's no other way to explain it.

And last point, I'm impressed with the posters in this thread. It could easily have gotten ugly ugly, and you guys talked like adults, giving your opinions and discussing it.

For real, I'm done now.

+1.

I've gotta admit some of the opinions on here are...well...I very much disagree.

I will say this and then I'm through: (b/c debating faith over the internet is an act in futility)

My story isn't special but I feel God's presence everyday. I see it in my daughter's eyes. I feel him in my heart and I hear him when he speaks. Trying to explain that to a non-believer is like trying to prove the existence of love between two people. There is nothing tangible. It goes back to my favorite verse, Hebrews 11:1 "..faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen." It cannot be translated verbally, it can only be felt.

I for one, thank God, everyday for his grace, mercy, love, and his patience. I feel his presence everyday.

All that said...I'm faaar from perfect. Being a christian does NOT make someone a better person--see King David. However, it does make them accountable to uphold God's standards, and if someone has truly believed in Christ, it makes them want to do thing that are pleasing to God. All of these things eventually lead to high moral charector, among much much more.

So...to your point of how this relates to success at football: I'd say...it relates to success in life before football but "..all thing are possible through Christ."

I wish each fan could spend one practice watching CEO and CMK. Those two are full force and work very, very well together.

Well, I think CEO would have been successful at LSU just like he is at Tennessee. The guy can coach and he can evaluate talent. I just wish you guys could see him action.

I guess everyone has heard about this staff's amazing attention to detail. Well, while i was in the indoor facility I go to the bathroom and in each stall there were different pictures of urine. Before you get grossed out, each one had a a paragraph saying, "If you urine looks like this then you are partially dehydrated" "If your urine looks like this then you are fully hydrated". Also there were tips on what you need to do to avoid the flu. I was awed by the lengths they are going to in their preparation.

the military uses the same thing during training, thats not so much preperation as it is for the safety of the players.

I will say that I was a little disappointed in our indoor practice facility. I didnt go upstairs so I dont know about that, but downstairs was a little shoddy. It just looked like it was well used.

Shoddy compared to what...

Actually Rex is right...I've seen the indoor facility at TN many times (because of softball camps) and it is a little shoddy compared to say Ole Miss's "Manning Palace". That place is the Taj Mahal of indoor practice facilities. Although to be fair, TN has had their current facilities MUCH longer than most and it was light years ahead of the others back in the day.

That's what I wondered, if it was in comparison to the rest of the facilities at UT, or to other places.

it just looked kind of run down. I wonder if they are going to spruce it up when they do the hall of fame. It was a little shocking.

Thanks for a great read. It is hard to maintain places like that because they are used and abused so much. I have been in there a few times and it always looks much better end of July than December.

I am so excited to hear about the faith growing there. I know FCA has been doing well, I think AIA has as well. New chaplain for UT seems to have made an impact also.

God bless Rex thanks for the great read!
