Guys, I wont go into the details, but I was blessed to spend some time with a few of our players. I was completely blown away by the leadership these guys possess. Chris Walker leads the group, just a great kid that seems to really care about his teammates and embrace his role as a leader. He is very aware of the opportunity he has. Just a great kid and natural born leader. Comes from a fantastic family, his mother is a true woman of God. Eric Berry, didnt meet his dad, but was able to spend a couple of hours with his mom and grandmother. Great people, very humble, down to earth, and kind. Eric was as generous with his time as a I have ever seen from a guy in his position. Just a true class act all the way. Quentin Hancock's mother was another extremely kind and personable lady. Art Evans, Vald, and Gerald Williams were some of the other guys that just blew me away with their attitudes and the humility they possessed. I had an opportunity to spend about 15min with CMK. He was way bigger than I expected. Im 6ft 1in and he was noticeably taller than me. Just a super nice guy. CEG is the real deal. When you meet him, he just radiates honesty. He really impressed me.

I spent about an hour watching the half speed practice/walk through and here are my observations:

1) Coach O and CMK coach like its the 4th quarter of a tied NCG all the time. I would see CEO just chewing someone's butt off and then see CMK call the player over and build them back up.
2) The players adore CMK. I saw him stop them twice and say, "Let me tell you a story...". Every player was totally focused on what he had to say.
3) CLK just radiates arrogance, but in a way that says, "I know I will win because I am better prepared than you." He would stand in the middle of the field with his hands on his hips and smirk after a great play.
4) I was also surprised by CLK's presence. He commands respect. He is impressive.
5) Janzen Jackson is flat out fast. One of the fastest guys I have ever seen in person.
6) CMK coaches all out, all the time. The guy just seems genuine.
7) 15 players have given their lives to the Lord since the season started.
8) I heard one player say that he learned more in 2 weeks with this staff then all of last year.

I was around many of the players when i was a student 88-93 and they werent "character" guys. This team is overflowing with character guys. Just genuine, good natured guys who truly seem to care about one another.

I guess everyone has heard about this staff's amazing attention to detail. Well, while i was in the indoor facility I go to the bathroom and in each stall there were different pictures of urine. Before you get grossed out, each one had a a paragraph saying, "If you urine looks like this then you are partially dehydrated" "If your urine looks like this then you are fully hydrated". Also there were tips on what you need to do to avoid the flu. I was awed by the lengths they are going to in their preparation.

I got to see a High School football team where several of them turned their lives over the same night. It's something to see. Nikita Koloff was at our Church and went down to the field with me after practice. He spoke with them for over an hour. Lots of kids never have the chance to experience the Lord in their home life.

Glad to see that going on with VOL Football.

ha ha, I meant that I wont tell you how I ended up getting in to all of this. Suffice to say that a very special person opened some doors for me.
I also cant say enough how blown away I was my how this group of players just seemed like good kids. Just really polite, respectful, and I was very impressed by how they seemed to have a bond with one another. Granted I was only around about 20 or so, but they all seemed like great kids.

That's in almost every military head/latrine/bathroom I've ever been in.

Great read, and the scary part? You can see CMK command respect from the tv cameras, you can see CLK glaring, you know he KNOWS he will win. This is by no means anything like the Tennesee's squad of the past. Big things are coming.

Chris Walker FTW.

I've said it before, but I think that he'll go down as one of the best people to ever come out of our football program.

C-Walk seems like he may do things way greater than just athletic accomplishment. He is the real deal. He's not one of those weirdo Christians, but a normal good guy.

He always comes across as a soft and well-spoken person. He's impressive from what I've seen.

I cannot tell you what it means to me to be so proud of these kids!! When you see how hard they play, when you see how hard they work, and then you keep hearing that they are just deep down good kids. I mean, good grief, what more could a college football fan ask of their team???

GO VOLS!!!!!
