My Very Early 2012 Prediction

If (huge if) the major contributors stay healthy, I'll say 8 wins.

I just want a win against UF.

8 wins is "par." I think 7 wins will spell t r o u b l e and by the same token, 9 or more should be elation. I was in Vegas and the BCS championship odds on UT are at 150 - 1. I got me some of that action! If everything happens to come together I'll cash a nice ticket. If not, I'll have a cheap souvenir.

1. florida is at neyland

2. why don't you take a peek at tennessee's road record in recent years.

if you want "trolling" comments, i can make them. but, most of the things i post have a sound reason behind them

right now, until proven otherwise, tennessee is TERRIBLE on the road. like, we can't beat kentucky in regulation in our last three trips to lexington TERRIBLE. like, charles barkley "turrable".

so, when forcasting games on the road, i would take that under consideration.

but, that's just me

Ummm...you're a gator fan....what is this "we" stuff?

Terrible on the road? We shoulda beat LSU at their place.. and our missed field goal vs bama was at their place also.. I wouldn't call us a horrible road team.

For some reason i get the feeling the 2012 Georgia Bulldogs are gonna be much like the 2005 UT team.

High expectations are gonna lead to disappointment.
Years of off the field issues and and lack of program control are gonna catch up to the dogs.

This will lead to CMR being fired. This is just from what ive seen coming out of athens for the past few years.

Just seems like uga never plays up to their talent level

Everyone is confident in the spring, but what exactly have the Vols done for you to expect them to be better next year?

Well, your immature, staring-fool of a coach gives us confidence.

Ummm...you're a gator fan....what is this "we" stuff?

He's getting mixed up, he forgot he wasn't posting as one of his trolls (indianavol4eva, packersvol, whatever).

It's hard to keep track of all the avatars he has. You see, he has no life.

keep tellin yourself that..I wonder how much you will feel like being around here when we stomp the living **** out of the gators this year.

Don't worry I wouldn't lower myself to coming to your boards to rub it in. I would feel too dirty trying to troll another teams boards.

I couldn't imagine having so much time on my hands that i would spend it trolling other teams' boards. It's pathetic.

Good post, Bayou.. I agree for the most part, but I think you are being a little overly-optimistic about FLA, UGA and Mizzou. Here are my percentage chances for wins (W/L)

NC State - 70/30 - IMO this should be Cincy 2011 part 2
GA State - 100 - Lock
FLA - 50/50 - I just can't predict a win here until we prove we can break the streak
Akron - 90/10 - Pretty much a lock
UGA - 30/70 - Sorry, I just think Murray is too good and they have too much talent and depth defensively
MS State - 60/40 - They are physical and have a solid D. If our D plays well, I think we can take em
Bama - 10/90 - Just don't see it happening
South Carolina - 60/40 - I think we get this one.. Again, this one comes down to our D stepping up
Troy - 100 - Lock
Mizzou - 50/50 - Most people underestimate this team, and I think this will be a tough one. Offensively they have weapons and a proven QB that can potentially hang with our offense
Vandy - 70/30 - We beat the snot out of the commodes
UK - 80/20 - Revenge is best served @ Neyland

not sure you agree with the OP - your %s have us at 7.5 wins if i counted correctly

while reasonable i would say this is on the low end of expectations and certainly not as rosy as the OPs prediction

id bump uga, akron, MO, UK, and vandy 10% and that gets you to 8 wins on your prediction - that seems like the most reasonable guess to me

Have u seen the roster we've been working with? We haven't had a legit upper class in years.. And no depth at all.

Alabama and Georgia are the two toughest games on our schedule this year. Georgia due to their defense.

NC State we should beat. Ghost of the Georgia Dome should be the only thing that concerns us here.

Georgia State goes without saying.

If we lose to Florida at home it's mental.

Akron goes without saying.

@ Georgia...the before mentioned defense and the fact it's a road game. Aaron Murray still doesn't impress me.

@ MSU shouldn't be a problem either. Their senior laden team underachieved greatly last year, and there's no reason to expect anything more from them this year.

Alabama...we'll have the best shot we've had in a while. I predict a 2010 type season for Alabama, which means they'll drop one somewhere along the way they probably shouldn't. Could be at Knoxville, but not holding my breath. Don't think it will be a beat down this year however.

@ USC...if everyone is healthy we should win this game. In 2010 Simms and depth lost the game for us, last year inexperience at key positions and the lack of a run game lost the game for us. Even when they win they don't impress me...at all.

Troy should go without saying.

Mizzou will be beat up from their first season in the SEC. I think we'll win that one.

@ Vandy...the stadium will be half orange and I think they'll take a step back from last year.

Kentucky...revenge.

They're all winnable this year. Do I think we'll win them all? No, but when was the last time we said we should have a chance in every game?

I disagree. I believe the stadium will be 80% orange.

Perhaps 7-5, new defense, coaches, Bray has never played a full season.. Pass the Jack

Agree, people look over the new stuff being implemented. 7-5 or even 6-6. Either way Dooley has to show and prove. What else you got with the Jack?:shades::devilsmoke:

Not being negative but everone is just locking in the win against KY. Didnt anyone watch that game last year? We beat Vandy by luck. We could have a 4 win season or it could get as good as 7 wins. I really hope everyone remembers how we played the second half of ball games last year and we are basically playing with the same players this year. I want UT to win but in this last scrim we couldnt even stop our own run and it was almost dead last in the nation last year and now we are learning a new scheme and losing our best def player at MLB. We will be a hunter injury away from going 4-8 or a healthy hunter away from 7/5.
NC ST 45/55
GA ST 100/0
FL 30/70
Akron 100/0
UGA 25/75
MS State 40/60
Bama 0/100
USC 20/80
Troy 100/0
Mizzou 40/60
Vandy 40/60
KY 60/40

I agree with you about Missouri. My wife graduated from there so I watched some of their games with her last year. They knocked off No. 1 Oklahoma two years ago and almost did it again last year in Oklahoma when they were No. 1. Many people talk about how great aTm is but they've also beaten them the past two years and beat Texas when they were both ranked No. 16. They're no slouch.

We're going to beat Vandy like a red headed step child and all I will say about UK is that if I weren't so mad about last year's game, I would almost feel sorry for their fans with how bad that one will be. It will be over at halftime. 9 wins this year with a bowl win and maybe even ten.

P.S. Missouri beat UNC really bad in their bowl game last year which felt like vicarious revenge that I could enjoy through my wife on that nightmare bowl we lost the previous year.

First of all this opinion is based on the theroy we stay healthy for the whole season. So here goes my thoughts.
I beleive we start the year 4-0 with wins over NC State, Ga. State, Florida and Akron. Then Georgia I believe is fifty fifty only because it is in athens if it was in Knoxville I would say eighty percent chance we win. We beat Mississippi State. Alabama ten to twenty percent chance we win, they are still very deeply loaded with talent. South Carolina forty percent chance we win would be reversed sixty percent chance we win if in Knoxville. I believe from there we win out with wins over Troy, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. Nine wins, ten to eleven very possible. Oh and by the way I love Tennessee. GO VOLS!
There is zero chance that the 2012 Tennessee team wins 11 games. Zero. 10 wins is highly unlikely. 9 is possible, but unlikely. 8 may very well happen. 7 is almost certain.

Anything less than 8 wins should be considered bad. We have 8 easy wins on our schedule this year. 8 wins with this schedule is equal to 6 wins with last years schedule.

We almost beat UGA last year without Hunter and Bray going out late in the game. We almost beat USC without Hunter and a true freshman QB. I'm really not worried about either. If the OP is correct and we beat FloriDUH, I think that gives this team the confidence to beat anyone, although I agree bammer will be a tough one to win.

You can't compare how we play again St teams from year to year. If that was the case we would have beaten LSU or atleast been close. We should be concerned with miss St, GA, SCar and Mizzou. Were not good enough yet to assume a win over anybody. Plus with Dooleys inability to make halftime adjustments no game is a given. And if you do compare year to year you have to count UK as a loss.

How do you figure we have 8e asy wins? I count 3 of our out of conference as easy then after that there's none. Not like Dooley has proven he can win SEC games. I hope and believe he can, and we have a much better staff. But no way can we assume anything until they can prove it.
