Norvell
Les Miles

Man, my first wish list looked a lot different. What do y'all think? What's your list looking like?

Chris Petersen - throw 8 mil at him, only way Currie can save face by hiring proven winner.

Now back to reality!!!

Tee Martin - with big time staff around him and Steele or Chavis as DC. (Favorite option)

Brent Venables - with big time OC (second choice)

Kevin Sumlin - west is tough done solid there, competed well against Bama best UF, beat Mullen, good recruiter.

Gundy - interesting guy wins a lot of game every year. Needs a good DC though.

Brohm - not sold on him as most. But does seem like a tough hard nosed physical football coach

Kiffin- would win and recruit well but not sure he’s matured. Or respects our tradition.

Wild card Bryan Harsin ... not likely to leave his home but if he did I think he would be a fantastic hire now

6 million to Frost and 6 million to his assistants. Might tug the the heart string to have his assistants taken care off. Only chance we have I say.

I like Norvell 2nd

3rd would be the Lane Train (just wish the political climate would allow him to bring K Briles with him (one of the best OC in the nation IMO) but that wishfull thinking.

Sunny Combie TCU OC, next best thing to Patterson.

K Sumlin with Chief

Lane Kiffin (can't believe I'm saying this)

How realistic do you, or anyone else, think it is that John Currie and the Haslams would even entertain the idea of rehiring Lane Kiffin?

My opinion of whether we bring him back notwithstanding, I just don't believe they would do it.

What do you think?

Tee Martin will only come back to TN as Head Coach. That's it he's been offered OC twice and turned all offers. I think he could do a good job for TN. Look for Bobby Petrino to be contacted tomorrow and if no Martin then Petrino is a very possible thing.

Coaches that have expressed interest and are proven winners : Mike Leach and Les Miles.

We should also strongly consider Kevin Sumlin, because the man can recruit, and he's won alotta games.

I would call those 3 coaches well before I even considered Lane Kiffin. And if you made an offer to Leach (a strong offer) or Les, then we'd have a new coach and be setting up a presser. Wouldn't even hafta call Sumlin. Call Leach and Miles and 1 would sign on the dotted line in a hurry, and for under 5mil a yr too. Currie is not going about this very smartly. Makes the calls and this whole mess is OVER and we can start to try to build back excitement for UT football again!

HC - Lane Kiffin
OC - Kendal Briles
DC - Kevin Steele

Think getting Steele is a stretch. Also Terry Fair. Keep Gillespie. Bring back the VFL coordinator that just left. Fire Currie and insert Blackburn.

Tempted to say keep Shoop. I want to see him without Butch.

My ultimate wish is still Gruden all the way (won't happen but I blame the AD not Gruden)
Lane Kiffin (yes I'm surprised too as I had very harsh words for him too but it'd be funny as hell to see him come back, make a real name for himself, turn our team around, beat Saban, etc) The entertainment factor alone is worth it!!
Payton Manning (this is an ultimate dream wish list right? No....? Ok, then Tee Martin. He'd be good by me too.)
Fulmer was coach when I became a fan so yes I will always welcome him too...

*The only ones I think we can get is Kiffin and Tee realistically. The above is a fantasy world.*

I just think it's so funny you put Kendal Briles on there.

For me:

1. Kiffin
2. Taggart
3. Miles
4. Jeff Fischer
5. Mack Brown
6. Charlie Strong

It's very unlikely. Would be a huge PR risk.

Sumlin
Kiffin
Miles
Strong

Add Steele as DC and Martin as OC

I might put Strong at the top of that list. He did well at Louisville and has built a very good team at USF in a short time. Don’t know what happened at Texas. Whoever coaches there seems to have problems. Wealthiest public university, great recruiting area - the big mystery is why they aren’t in the top 5 every year.
