My two cents...

I think it will take 3-4 year's before we see this program able to reach 10 wins again. It's going to take Kiffins first 2-3 classes being Juniors & Seniors before we start seeing what this staff can really do.

obligated fumblemom post.
Dude, I don't care if you are a "guru"/mod/governor/St. Peter, that is not how we talk to ladies in THIS state. In my book, you may as well have just slapped a baby and spit on a soldiers Mom. That was uncalled for and shows a serious lack of judgement. You can rest assured that if I could get at you right now that I would die trying to square a foot on your pseudovol balls.
FosterMom, I apologize on behalf of Vols everywhere and thank you for your very sweet and insightful post.
I HOPE that I have completely misinterpreted your post, Vols kick balls

Nice birthing analogy FM. Truer words never spoken. The wait is well worth it. To some fans patience is not an option. I would say its the younger "instant gratification" crowd that doesnt get it.

Last I seen Arian was on the practice squad? What is his status exactly?

It's less about intelligence and more about emotional control.

As I've posted on other boards today, this team has a ways to go and it will take some time, but they will get there...even if it's not this season. It took longer than a few months for the program to get to this shape, so it'll take longer for them to turn it around.

Your patience, as a fan base, is required. And when UT is back where UT belongs, you will find this misery worth it. Kiffin can coach but he's having to clean up the problems that he inherited and it may run deeper than many think. I think he's on the right track.

Most of you are guys so I don't expect that you'll understand this analogy, but when women give birth, it's the worst pain imaginable and feels like it will never end or you'll die before it does. When that beautiful bundle arrives though, the pain is instantly forgotten and we are consumed with the pride and joy we feel having seen this process through.

So give it time. It's gonna be alright. :good!:
Quite possibly the most factual words ever spoken on this board.

I think Kiffin inherited a bigger mess than any of us dreamed it could be. Further proof Mike Hamilton made the right decision in firing Fulmer.

That's understandable. I've only been around for five years and it's been taxing for Vol fans that I've witnessed. I know the patience is thin. But what I want to stress is how deep these kids are locked into the attitude and habits of old. They are a victim of their past environment. When things start to go bad, they revert back to implosion. It's what's been ingrained in them for at least the last four years...Tennessee will get there once the players purge themselves of thier current mentality.

I think we all have our ideas about this from he outside, but what are some things you could point to from your perch, at least conceptually, that created this mentality over the recent 4 yrs+?

Don't read too much into the GURU status on here. It's more a you started with the board and I wouldn't dare drop that come hail or highwater. BPV is possiby the best/smartest poster on here IMO, even though his mouth gets in the way of his words sometimes. Seriously though, BPV not being a GURU kind of shoots a hole in the being a GURU status on this board IMO.

Using the birthing theme..and since we're mostly men

"Spare us of the pain, and give us the baby"

I think most of us knew it was going to be an uphill battle but we still expected to win games were suppose to win, and truth be told were looking to steal one from GA, FL or Bama..

So losing to UCLA at home, tells us we've got farther to go than we thought

It was Vols Kick Balls that made a back-handed slap of a woman right in front of me.

She raised Arian. I think she could put a beat down on VKB if she wanted too. I doubt she needs any of our defense.

So even though they WANT to win, even though they WANT success, it will take some time for them to learn HOW to win, to believe they can and should win and then, to expect it. All you have to do is look at teams who expect to win to know that what I'm saying is true....USC :)sick:) and Florida :)moon2:).

Tennessee will get there once the players purge themselves of thier current mentality. It may take a couple of weeks or a couple of years and you may have great and even worse times in between. But they'll get there.

Just stay with it.
Thanks for everything fostermom...

LOL. I agree. It's just not in my make up to let someone be that patenetly rude to a Vol mother like that.....unprovoked, and just pretend he did'nt say it. It's my Tennessee raising I suppose.
