It's less about intelligence and more about emotional control.

As I've posted on other boards today, this team has a ways to go and it will take some time, but they will get there...even if it's not this season. It took longer than a few months for the program to get to this shape, so it'll take longer for them to turn it around.

Your patience, as a fan base, is required. And when UT is back where UT belongs, you will find this misery worth it. Kiffin can coach but he's having to clean up the problems that he inherited and it may run deeper than many think. I think he's on the right track.

Most of you are guys so I don't expect that you'll understand this analogy, but when women give birth, it's the worst pain imaginable and feels like it will never end or you'll die before it does. When that beautiful bundle arrives though, the pain is instantly forgotten and we are consumed with the pride and joy we feel having seen this process through.

So give it time. It's gonna be alright. :good!:

If we had any talent at all starting for us at QB, our team would be a 7-8 win team. JC would have been better off handing off the ball EVERY TIME yesterday. Think about it.....without those idiotic INTs and the fumble, we win the game cause UCLA could NOT move the ball on us.

In an unrelated topic, good luck to your son in the NFL. I hope he gets his chance and does great!

The giving birth reference helps and I hope that is what will happen with this football team...by then we won't even remember how bad last season was...and how "bad" this one may get

some of us thought we knew but you are right, it does look to be a much bigger issue than we realized. I'm also hoping people give him enough time to get UT cleared out and on the right path.

Thanks :hi:

LOL. Possibly. But Kiffin & Co. will pick the time when or if he is to be replaced. And by whom. Until then, be all in. What other choice do we have?

Seriously, Fostermom, I love the perspective you bring to this and other boards. If we all had your attitude, this would be a much better fanbase. I'm glad you stayed a UT fan after all the crap Arian took. Good things are in store for this program. We just have to keep that in mind.

I think we have choices. Hold an all campus QB tryout - bet there is a stud out there than never saw football as the meaning of life. Or sacrifice a few games to switch to an option and take one of the high school running QBs and put him at QB. Either one of them will keep me attending the games this year over the predictable performance behind center now.

Alas, I lived through one long reconstruction starting in 1977, guess I can live through another. But it better go quicker this time - I am running out of runway.

That's understandable. I've only been around for five years and it's been taxing for Vol fans that I've witnessed. I know the patience is thin. But what I want to stress is how deep these kids are locked into the attitude and habits of old. They are a victim of their past environment. When things start to go bad, they revert back to implosion. It's what's been ingrained in them for at least the last four years. So even though they WANT to win, even though they WANT success, it will take some time for them to learn HOW to win, to believe they can and should win and then, to expect it. All you have to do is look at teams who expect to win to know that what I'm saying is true....USC :)sick:) and Florida :)moon2:).

Tennessee will get there once the players purge themselves of thier current mentality. It may take a couple of weeks or a couple of years and you may have great and even worse times in between. But they'll get there.

Just stay with it.

I thnk kiffin said it pretty well a couple weeks back...this season will be up and down...just the facts of having to deal with a coaching change and the departure of a lot of players that weren't willing to buy in, they'll have good games and bad along this road...lets just hope it comes sooner than later
