My Thread

Yeah, it's really hard to believe. I might try to stay outta those threads. My IQ dips considerably after reading them.

The dumbing down of America has been going on for over 40 years now. I guess we are now beginning to reap the end product some.

It's just pitiful. I'm worried about the future of this country as we all get dumber and other nations continue to develop.

It's gonna be bad, I would guess. I read an article that said political speeches are being written for understanding by a 9th-10th grade reading level. And that reading level is not what it used to be. Brain trust turning into brain waste.

 You would be amazed at the people I graduated with that couldn't read or spell very well. The teachers, at least in J-town, seem to be apathetic about their lessons. In H.S there where countless times that a ball player would not turn their work in and still somehow make higher than me. I helped these people with their work even! They got all the scholarships too, my 28 ACT and 3.78 GPA didn't help me any.

I would say that is normal with the ball players. I didn't realize it until HS when I had a few classes with all the basketball and football players. Obviously, not all athletes are slow at learning. And, not all students are. But, still. It's nice to be around those that you can communicate with on a normal level.

This, yes! It's nice to be able to have intelligent conversation with people. Strangely enough, until I got on this site, I haven't got to have intelligent conversations much. All the athletes didn't get the grade benefit either, I played soccer myself until my injury. You're right, a few of the ball players where very smart, they just didn't put in any effort and still got rewarded for it which bugs me. I hate it when people who have the ability to do something but are too lazy to really try get more credit than someone who doesn't have the ability but try their heart out.

Well, it's life. Guess it doesn't have to be fair, too. I'm outta here for the night. Cya, usa. Have a good 'un.
