At first I was a little disappointed but I got away from the computer cleared my head and went back and looked at Dooley's experience and I think it was a decent hiring given the circumstances...

He obviously knows the SEC speeding a brief time at Georgia and working with Saban at LSU. He must know something about recruiting since he was Saban's recruiting coordinator. He is a young guy and could be a decent head coach. I'm going to give the guy a chance and hope he does well.

Welcome to Knoxville Dooley!

Seems like everyone is expecting this guy to automatically fail. Which he will if he doesn't get the support of Vols fans. I know we should have done better with all the money we had to throw at it, but can we at least give this guy a chance?

Or the more you realize there isn't a freakin' thing you can do about it so you might as well accept it.

It's not like the guy is suddenly the best hire ever just because he's the coach. If he wasn't a great hire before, he's still not one.

The bottom line is that Dooley will have to recruit with the big boys in the conference and the country. That prick Kiffin and his posse were clearly doing that--they were big-time recruiters. Can Dooley? Ummmm.

A lot of coaches had his back, coaches that were on ya'lls list. From everything I have seen and from coaches that he has worked for he seems to have a shot to be a good one, comes from a good blood line. JMO but whatever it is done. Hope no ones shows up at the airport to boo him lol.

Yes. We HAVE to be very patient as a fan base.

09/04/10 vs. Tennessee-Martin Knoxville, Tenn. TBA
09/11/10 vs. Oregon Knoxville, Tenn. TBA
09/18/10 vs. Florida * Knoxville, Tenn. TBA
09/25/10 vs. UAB Knoxville, Tenn. TBA
10/02/10 at LSU * Baton Rouge, La. TBA
10/09/10 at Georgia * Athens, Ga. TBA
10/23/10 vs. Alabama * Knoxville, Tenn. TBA
10/30/10 at South Carolina * Columbia, S.C. TBA

Not going to win many games in that stretch. Kiffin wouldn't have either. We've got to give the guy 3 or 4 years before we start calling for his head.

I think you're right VSF. Once the initial shock of this bungled hire by the incompetent muttonheads in the athletic department wears off, I think we'll be right back to the same apathy displayed during The Fired Coach's tenure.

I've been thinking about this hire, and I was not happy with it. I am willing to give this guy a chance though. We must surround him with great coaches which I think we have to this point. We have to go after Garner and make him the recruiting coordinator. MH's job is on the line....

What choice do we have? Hamilton forced Mike Shula II on us. Randy Sanders might be a better hire, IMHO...just saying? Being under Saban for a while doesn't mean shiite to me. His record does....and it's a stinker.

his first HIRE needs to be Rodney Garner and that would help with some recruits

You know, many people thought Al Davis was a nutjob and just having a delusional senior moment when he warned us about Kiffin. This board was rife with defenders, calling out the rest of the world for saying we were nuts for letting a fox into the hen house. Guess who was right in the end?

Now we've got a preponderance of the outside world telling us we've made a great hire and, if we stand by him, he will do great things. He was highly recommended by other coaches who won't be playing us and have no reason to see us have more down years. And what is the prevailing belief on this board right now? That the outside world are a bunch of nutjobs, having delusional senior moments. I was upset when we were proved wrong the first time, I am hoping we are proved wrong this time.

Tennessee is my team, no matter the coach, no matter the AD... I am a Volunteer, not just a Vol Fan. Dooley is my new coach, and I stand behind him until he gives me reason to do otherwise.

Well if someone never gave them a chance we would never have the Myers, Sabin's and Grudens of the world! Give him a chance and support whats hes got to do. If I was a recruit and read half these silly people on here I would never come to UT!

I think he is a solid hire, with the right help around him, he could do some good things here.

Saban thought enough of him to take him to the Dolphins with him. Dooley left Saban to become a HC. You can't go by his win/loss record because of the team he was coaching. Of course if you want to compare it just look at Kif's overall HC record.

this guy, Dooley, is now our coach...whether you like it or not...if you don't give him a chance so be it, go cheer on the blue, or crimson...
