My take on the coaching search.

I want Jon Gruden like everyone else, but I'm not getting my hopes up about him coming to Tennessee.

Has anyone mentioned Gus Malhzan? He wouldn't be my first choice after Gruden, but he seems like a realistic hire, about on par with what we have got lately.

Hope to see Gruden accept, but I don't think he will. Strong and Fisher are BOTH overrated to me, but I believe they could bring us part way back to the top. I also don't think either will leave his respective school.

To steal a line from Chris Low, this next hire will determine whether we rise from the ashes or remain irrelevant for the rest of this decade. This hire is everything. No pressure Dave Hart. :good!:

To me these are the big three candidates.

John Gruden
Charlie Strong
Jimbo Fisher

fall back options

Larry Fedora
David Cutcliffe

Wild Card
Bobby Petrino

If not John Gruden, then my first choice is Charlie Strong, then my fallback would be Fedora.

I'm not sure what strong or Fedora has done to make people think they're a great choice

Check out John Adams' article at GoVolsxtra on Baylor's coach Art Briles. Nobody else has mentioned him that I have heard.

He's done a good job reviving Baylor but if John Adams wants him he's probably not the right guy!!

How about Bo Pelini?

He makes less than 3 million a year. He has never had a losing season at Nebraska. He has been 1st or tied for 1st in their division 4 times out of 5 seasons. He is 49-18 as a head coach. 3.8 million, and bring him to Knoxville.
