My take on the Cal game

Although I agree that the Cal cheering while Mitchell was on the field was bush league, I would like to apologise for my barage of insults last week. Your team beat Tennessee and had our players gasping in awe of your speed and intensity. The exact fundmentals you shared about us last year.

Once again(as much I as try to defend Pilsbury) our team came out and played undisciplined football. Fumbles, poor special teams, stupid mistakes and non existant tackling by our defense have become common place for the VOLS. Offensive wise I give credit to David Cutcliff for having a disiplined group of young men, which is how he handles his practices. Unfortunatley, Fulmer continues to not follow General Neyland's maxium's...Poor special team play, and turnovers...THE GENERAL I am sure would be fuming right now but not PHIL, just clap those hands and every thing will be alright. Our special teams and tackling coach should be fired immediatley. We have been diplorable in those areas for years!
I welcome Southern Miss to Neyland. I hope I won't have to apologise to you for a piss for performance as well!

Yeah that's if we had a special teams coach,we don't.Tackling is left up to chavis to get them ready.I'am not going to make excuses for johnny,we have seen poor tackling for years now.

what talent is sitting on the bench that should be on the field?

For starters, Vincent and Moore saw limited action, only a few plays, and maybe one "deep" 25 yard route each in which they were thrown to. Screw all this learning the offense crap. If our offense is so damn hard to learn that it takes a player 3 years to make the field, and by that time is so bored and unused, his talent becomes a bust, or he stays in trouble, then we need a new offense. For such a sophisticated offense, we sure do get stuffed a lot of late. You recruit these guys for a reason. If you need the threat, put them in the game. If FSU used that same philosophy, all 4 of those Freshman and Sophomore offensive lineman they started against Clemson last night would still be on the bench. Last night, they grew ten feet. If htey were in our system they'd still be on the bench getting coaching progress reports. Crap logic. You learn by getting in the game and getting taught live.

If it is true that we have no special teams coach...Then that peformance falls squarely on Pilsburies Shoulders. Watching UT football is it me or does it appear as though our guys are taught to take a guy down with shoulder blows? We never wrap up. It seems we always run up and try and bump them with our shoulders and hope they fall. Usually the glance off and continue down the feild or we end up with injuries (i.e. mitchell or the guy last year that basically ripped his arm off from the inside).

Who would the players you mentioned replace? Should they see the field if they don't know what route to run or who to block? Here's an idea, tell them to earn their spot on the field. Berry did it.

Close enough. The library is on the corner of peidmont ave and bancroft ave. the celestory windows that look east face Peidmont and the I House. It is not the jewish student center, it is the lehrhaus judaica (unrelated to the university) and it is not the SAE house it is the DKE house. So i guess you were there, but like so many postings here, you didnt pay much attention to what you saw.

Actually, you're wrong. The main reading room windows do not face east; they face south and were originally designed to face west. You cannot see the intersections of Bancroft of either Piedmont and Bancroft or Piedmont and College when you look out, because Boalt the North Addition/Simon Hall and the original Boalt main entrance block those views. I'm neither Greek nor Jewish and have no reason to pay attention to those buildings. But nice try.

Yes they will.

If you think its Florida, the Vols beat the Gators soundly in a couple of weeks. Cal had experience all over the field. Florida is rebuilding a defense and has a qb that can only run. The Vols will shred the Gators D. And no team the Vols play this year has as good an offense as Cal.
