My rant in favor of Adidas uniforms

Having said that, one talking point I keep seeing in these discussions about Adidas is how Adidas always had the wrong orange. And I'm sitting here looking at my screen thinking "what?!?" How are people so oblivious to history???? Adidas had the correct orange and Nike never has! It's not even remotely the same shade of orange. Look back at film of old games throughout the history of the program and the orange looked way more similar to our old Adidas uniforms than our current Nike gear. The Nike uniforms don't have that distinctive yellowish hue that true UT orange has. Criticize Adidas all you want for not being cool enough or trendy enough, but you just look like a fool when you say Adidas never got our uniform color right.

So you actually liked that "throw up" orange Adidas had us wearing back in the day? That was literally the worst color possible. You might be the only person who liked that abomination. Thank God Nike changed it. Adidas bettee not take us back to that awful shade.

Ever since rumors came out that UT was going back to Adidas, I've seen a lot of folks mad about the change. I mean I get it. Brand choices are subjective and we all have different tastes. Part of the deal is that Adidas isn't designing the uniforms. They will continue to use UT's design team. So Ut has complete control over the design, including the color (which, by the way, has been correct under Nike). Don't expect that to change. I would like to see the block lettering come back, though.

I actually preferred the adidas uniforms up until those regrettable 2013-2014 ones. Give me classic block numbers, big T on the helmet , two stripes on the pants, maybe stripes on the sleeves if we’re feeling frisky and I’m happy. Those 2004 throwbacks are the best alternate uniform we’ve ever had
Hopefully they don’t bring back the script Tennessee on the road jerseys . I will say that the 2004 Condredge Holloway jerseys vs UNLV were the best thing that we had under adidas. Hopefully our design team doesn’t change anything other than the # font.

You go overboard with the drama. I don't think this has ever been an important issue with football players. With basketball players it has been, but that can be mitigated and to think of it as a "tax" is ridiculous.

Strictly from a fan's perspective, I really like the Nike Polo's, but it's not like I have to throw mine away now.

👆 the "kids like them" crowd need to get in line
You know they were coached up not to say anything bad about it. When it was first reported in the Spring players were on Social media griping, DP said the coaches weren’t happy. The only thing that anyone (that matters) is happy about is the $$ and its potential for NIL. The company line is going to be Adidas prioritizes us and so we’re happy that they will take care of us.

When we signed with Adidas last time, HDTVs weren't even a thing. I remember being really amused that you could watch a game and be like wow, the commentator has make up just caked on and you can really, really tell. Or actually see dirt kick up under someone's cleat. I'll give Adidas the benefit of the doubt that they've developed a supply chain that's learned to do color better in the past 30 years now that you can tell so much more.

PS, 20 years ago UT web sites used FB7115 which is closer to PANTONE 165 C than it is to PANTONE 151 C. Comms people change things sometimes and nothing is sacred 😄
