Upon hearing that Lane Kiffin would be our coach in December of 2008 I was excited. This past season I spent more time and money on the Volunteers than ever. I even named my daughter Kenzie LANE. (Yes I know you are laughing at me. I do too.) There wasn't a person more supportive of Lane than I.

After taking some time to reflect these past few days I think to myself what I fool I was. He came in and wanted this to be the USC of the South, wanted to do it like Southern Cal, bring in guys from Southern Cal. Should we be shocked he left us?

If you were engaged to a woman who asked you to dress like her old boyfriend, talk like her old boyfriend, and treat her like her old boyfriend, you shouldn't be shocked if when she leaves you for her old boyfriend, and we were Kiffin's interest for a season. We choose to sleep with a snake and are now mad we were bit. Kiffin made most of us think he was a homemaker, but you can't make a hooker a house wife, and we tried to.

Whoever the new coach is, I don't care how big the name, I just want someone who loves the University of Tennessee as much as you and I do. Someone who sees Tennessee for what it was and what it should be, not what he needs it to be. Someone who loves the fall air walking into Neyland, who gets goosebumps when he runs through the T, and someone who sees the "I will give my all for Tennessee sign" and knows thousands of people would die to be hitting that sign.Tennessee isn't a whore house for fast coaches to come through, it Holy ground for football.

For all of the people begging for a splash... We had one last year, and we are the ones who are left soaking wet in the wake of his splash.

Tennessee won't die, it is too strong. Whoever the coach is, if he can coach at all, get the right staff around him, and love this University like he should, he will bring back the days where you can't sleep at night because you keep hearing Rocky Top play after beating Florida, and the days when you can be proud to say I am a Vol! Hire the right guy Hammy, the guy who is honored to be a Vol!

I understand your meaning, but you can love Tennessee and be a dumb coach at the same time. Thats the type of hire I am afraid of.

Completely agree! I just think a lot of people in here are wanting the coach with the "hot" name. If Calhoun or Cutcliff were interviewed for the USC job many people would be big supporters to bring them in here. Just because the guy we bring in isn't a big name doesn't mean he can't coach and doesn't mean Tennessee will fail for years.

Rev. I agree.

I will also say that person is not Chan Gailey.

Gruden, Lovie Smith the problem is there are not many studs from "in the family".

A guy like pearl? He was so grateful to be here, met Mears, met Ernie and Bernie, talked to all the former stud players. He cares deeply about the traditions of what it means to be a Vol.
