My predictions for the 2017 season

I'm thinking after the Bama game there is going to be a let down AND the injury issue.

Take into effect Ky is prolly gonna be better and they will probably be ready.

We've been hearing for years now how Kentucky is improved and ready for us. I'll have to see it to believe it.

My point exactly. Maybe the vols should start preparing for that yearly game?
Just sayin'.
I hope they stroll in this year expecting to wtfa just like last year. Butch would make UT vol coaching history with another loss to vandy if he hasn't already.

if we lose to vandy again this year, there just won't be much discussion about CBJ anymore.

and ftr, i just don't see it happening. y'all have had your time in the sun, and you should look on 2016 with fondness. you beat GA and TN, and almost beat FL.....hang a banner.

but it isn't going to last forever.

2-5 against Vanderbilt in the last five seasons. Time to stop overlooking them maybe?
I do agreee last year was a fluke as the vol defense was decimated, but Vanderbilt will be better this year than last season.

This stat gets thrown around a lot amongst Vandy fans. I won't discount your win last year; it was definitely earned. Vandy played to win for 60 minutes, and UT played for 30 minutes and folded.

While Vandy has won 3 of the last 5, they've also won 1 of the last 3. That doesn't sound as nice and further your agenda like the 3 out of 5 does. Two of those three were also with James Franklin, correct? The guy who used Vandy as a stepping stone to do much bigger and better things at Penn State.

Bottom line: Butch Jones has under achieved vs. Vanderbilt and is 2-2. On the other hand, Derek Mason, the current coach and the only one who matters now, is 1-2 against UT. Why stop at the past 5 years? Why not go back 10 or 15 years while we are at it? Let's just look at how the two current coaches have fared against each other, with Jones technically having the slight advantage.

By the way, I'm still waiting for Vandy to post a winning season under Mason :)

Vanderbilt is 4-34 against Tennessee in the last thirty four seasons. History says we have more pressing matters and more important teams to focus our energy on.

Yeah but Vanderbilt has won 60% of the time vs. UT in this cherry picked timeframe of the last 5 games. Why are you putting this intentionally misleading statistic into perspective and pointing out that their overall win percentage vs. UT in the modern football era is actually very, very low? Like lower than Mason's 33% against Tennessee, but slightly higher than the % of winning seasons Vanderbilt has had under their current coach... 0/3 or 0%.

Yep...also TN hasn't been the program it was in the mid 80s thru mid 2000s. In last 5 - 10 yrs our main problem has been at the very top. Winning hasn't been a top priority. Was so bad that bottom dwellers expect to beat us. We'll see come fall in CBJ yr 5

What is with you people and math?

"2-5 in the last five seasons"

"4-34 in the last thirty four seasons"

Holy cow.

You can replace the "-" with "of" in your head and it would make sense, or you can argue semantics on an online message board which is a lost cause.

How many draft picks in the last 5 years?

Don't take this the wrong way... but judging anything on a historical aberration really isn't a good idea. Nothing against Vandy but UT has more resources and year in, year out gets much better athletes. Enjoy what you've seen because it simply won't last.

2-5 over the past 5 years seems inaccurate.

Edit: late

Like almost every year, it will come down to Bama, UF, UGA, and whoever we pull from the west. Vandy and USC last year were flukes against a UT team decimated by injuries.

We were not decimated with injuries last year when we played SCar and we were even less so when we played Vandy. And even if we had been, which we weren't, considering that SCar was being coached by Muschamp in year one and that Vandy's average recruiting class the last 4 years was 44th in the country and ours was 12th-13th, it clearly shouldn't have mattered.

2-5 in the last 5 seasons? Clearly you didn't attend Vanderbilt.

Vandy hasn't been on the radar since the 20's.

No i didn't attend vandy. I was stuck with wku
I meant 2-3 in the last five. As in Vanderbilt has defeated UT three out of the last five times they've played when vandy has no business being on the same field with those vols with the huge talent differences. Let alone upsetting them so often in recent history.
I find it funny vol fans still count vandy as an automatic w when most games in the last eight years have been very close or a loss. One of the two wins the vols have in the last five years over vandy came in overtime. The other was a blowout if I remember correctly.

The "4-34" means four out of thirty-four (since apparently I have to spell it out for you). What is with you and reading comprehension?
