While I am not happy about where the Vols stand right now, I am believing that they will go on a run, just like the last two years. My fear is that it may be once again too little too late.

They need to figure out what it is that is causing them to have such difficulty getting going early on.

Of course, I could be wrong. They may not ever get it going this year. In that case, carry on with the Hire Pearl threads...

Breaking news. An older fat man wearing an orange and white suit riding in a sleigh was spotted leaving Butch Jones house this afternoon.

Just wanted to be the first (maybe not first, but one of the few) to show some sense of reality in the situation. We have a large group who want Coach fired now, and a group that would defend him to the bitter end. This is a thread for those in the "wait and see" and hopefully optimistic group.

I personally believe we have under-achieved in two or three games, but most likely they will bounce back. Will tonight's game be the start of that? I predict that it likely will be.

By the way, how much does that "thread police" job pay nowadays?

I'm sure a lot of posters will start to second guess firing CM after a win over Morehead State. When we play a real team bad coaching will become much more evident.

For me, the jury is still out. Not all coaches have to be the most cerebral in-game strategists in the world, in order to win a lot of games. If we make it to the tourney, and we get on a hot streak there, who cares?

The bottom line is, do they make the tourney? If not, I think I will be as ready as anyone to move on. I do believe there is enough talent on this team to work with.

Im sorry but I just dont see this team getting any better and going on a run. Im not one for firing a coach in the middle of the season but in CCM case I believe I would let him go and take my time looking for a replacement.

OK. I admit I was in the BBB group a few weeks ago (hey, I still wouldn't mind to have him back, to be honest), but this thread was obviously not as far off-base as some wanted to make it appear to be at the time.

I think we might as well get used to slow season starts under Coach Martin. Of course, I will take that, if we can get into the tourney, hitting on all cylinders.

The key for Martin is to get his teams to start better. He's closed strong every year, but this was the only year it was enough to get into the dance. We very well could've won a game in each of the last 2 years, but didn't get in.

I'm not saying he was to start out red hot, just not as awfully slow as we have all 3 years. I don't know what it'll take, but that's my only complaint.

Yeah, I'm all for patience and all that, but it is obvious that the selection committee is no longer looking at who is the hot team. They are truly looking at the whole season. Doesn't matter if we are beating teams by 30 or not.
