My opinion of UT 2009 Season

Before I say anything, let me say I HOPE WE WIN EVERY GAME!!! But the truth is, we won't even win half of them. I think Kiffin is a joke, but (believe it or not) I have been put the unfortunate position of TRYING to defend the hire (I moved from Bradley Co to the Huntsville area earlier this year, and it is hell down here). For the first time in my life I find myself actually agreeing with bammers and ga fans......the AD's at both UT & AU need to be drug tested.

Now... the breakdown.....

The good news is (obviously) the Defense. They will keep us in many games, actually putting us in position to pull a few off. The problem is they will be spending too much time on the field due to the totally inept offense. New system, new coaches make this year’s D not quite where we were last year…..but they do their job. Freshman make a significant impact.

The bad news….the offense. The worst news…..the offensive line. With a stable of RBs but no one to run block, watching our backfield carry for 2-3 yds/ play will become frustrating rather quickly. Obviously not being able to effectively run the ball will put even more pressure on JC/NS, which is the last thing we need. We’ve got the wideouts……the problem is getting them the ball (sorry GJ). It won’t happen. Last year was awful….this year not much improvement.

The “Ugly”……….LK running the show. No question the coaching staff is impressive, but Kiffin is in for a rude awakening. I'll leave it at that.....too many negative thoughts on Kiffin gets your post removed.

UT 30 WKU 3 1-0 Nice start to the season.
UT 14 UCLA 13 2-0 As bad as Bruins are, it is close
UT 10 UF 45 2-1 Kiffin swallows his foot.
UT 24 Ohio 10 3-1 Not close, just not impressive.
UT 9 AU 10 3-2 AU QB play is awful…almost as bad as us.
UT 7 UGA 17 3-3 We just can't score.
UT 10 UA 21 3-4 We just can't score part 2.
UT 14 USC 20 3-5 SS wraps up his final year
UT 20 Mem 6 4-5 EB scores 2 TD's.
UT 10 Miss 28 4-6 We just can't score part 3. And they can.
UT 17 Vandy 7 5-6 History is still on our side.
UT 10 UK 14 5-7 Ending a bad year with a painful lost.

Good question.

AU will be bad, but as bad as their QB play is, ours is worse. I think their D will be slightly better. They're a better team, but not by much.

I think USC will be improved. Not great, but again...better than us.

UK...been a long time coming for them. I don't like it anymore than you do.....but for the first time in a long time, they have a better coach.

What is bad about your post is that you mention poor offensive line play and only being able to run the ball for 2/3 yards as our weakness. Every real vol fan knows right now that our QB play is the weakness of our team and that would make us have a bad season. Thinking that we are going to lose to Auburn, SC, and Kentucky is just ludicrous.

Look 5150, Kiffin may be a joke but the offensive coaching staff SUCKED last year and Kiffin and Co will look like a genious compared to them.

Is a lack of depth due to crappy recruiting in recent years prior to LK's hiring.

LK deserves some patience from the fanbase. In 2 or 3 years we can start raising expectations.

There's nothing real about this reality. Poorly thought and a waste of time. Not a waste because of the negativity, it's a waste because it's wrong.

Under Kiffin this team will be more disciplined, more prepared, their wont be stupid penaltys, & they WILL play hard every single down. That alone will keep us in alot of games & help us win some that we probably shouldnt.

Ah, the paranoia of the monomaniacal.

I'm not a mod, but I would almost guarantee that it's not that "negative thoughts on Kiffin" that have earned your posts their removal. It's the way that you've turned your obsessive loathing of the guy into such a litany of misery that "negative thoughts" is a completely inadequate way to describe it.

you may hate kiffin.... prolly a result of actually listening to the bammers.... but the rest of our coaching staff more than compensates for any defficencies kiffin may have...

your prolly an old time fulmerite still pissed about the dawning of a new era....
to have such a negative outlook while starting with a clean slate is a travesty to vols fans everywhere...
you should just go donate your orange to goodwill so someone else will be able to wear it proudly

I hope Kiffin is successful. I wish he were a great coach. But the reality is, he should have never been hired. I wish it were not true.....I wish we would have hired a winner......we didn't.

I'd say the margin of error is +/- 1.
