Thanks for the support. I'm like Dooley more and more. If he has the fire to hit an offensive or defensive linemen during a game in the face then I can support that. Shows he has passion, may not be "legal" but it's passion.

Glad to get your opinions on him, seems like everyone other then Vol fans are saying this will turn out to be a good hire.

I believe Tennessee fans should get behind him. But, they don't need to start talking about how great the man is until he does something. No one, even you, knows squat. He is coming into the biggest mess in college football.

And, you said he COMPETES WITH THE POWER HOUSES AND POWER COACHES FOR RECRUITS. NO, HE DOES NOT. YOU ARE A VOL FAN POSTING AS AN LSU FAN. You didn't even know where the hell La Tech is located.

He and his wife look very presentable. I hated Lnae Kiffin from day one and this guy looks respectable. But, people in TN don't need to be acting like they did when they got Kiffin. This hire might not work in the end. Wait and see approach is a must.

but, which candidate was? maybe Stoops came closest, but anyone else could be picked at significantly (and so could Stoops, if winning BCS bowl games matters).

i like his pedigree and the way he presents himself. there is evidence, not beyond the shadow of a doubt but certainly in the realm of preponderance, that he can coach.

let's see what kind of staff he puts together.

let's see if he can salvage any kind of recruiting class.

let's see if he can get us to a bowl game.

we started in a crater left by fulmer and spiffy kiffy put us a couple more years behind the 8 ball. it is going to be a challenge regardless of who the HC is.

I am an Alabama alum who has lived in Tennessee for 16 years and love it here. I have a son who is a student at UT.

Congratulations on what appears to be a very good hire. I believe he'll do very well and will embrace the great tradition of UT football. He's certainly an upgrade from the Kiffin fly by.

I'll be pulling for you guys for 10 games a year.

LaTech is in Shreveport, the worst crime hell hole of LA, so you know its bad. He competes for recruits against Stoops, Saban, Miles, Petrino, Brown(all of TX) at a mid major school with no TV time/contracts. He took Boise St. to the wire. He beat LSU everywhere except the scoreboard. He is NOT a MEDIA WHORE. He does not need his daddy to be successful. He will handle off the field situations better than Fulmer + Kiffin combined. There is not enough crow in TN for volnation. So I say congrats on the hire, I'd swap HC for HC anyday(Not saying much but). This guy will succeed at UT. You obviously don't watch recruiting. Louisiana, Texas, etc. are hotbeds for football talent and the top prospects will almost ALWAYS choose a top dog like LSU, Alabama, or Texas before they even consider an offer from a school such as Louisiana Tech.

I also post under the same user name (which is actually my real name) on gatorcountry as well. As far as anonymous internet posters go, I use all of my real information and have met many people in person from the boards I post on. Gotta correct OP on some incorrect information:

Actually Louisiana Tech is in Ruston, which is about an hour away from Shreveport. Ruston has very little crime and is a pretty rad place (minus the laws on alcohol). It's not a sh*thole by any means.

Also, we DO compete with some legendary schools for recruits, so getting anyone worth a damn is pretty amazing. Just because they aren't on rivals or scouts, doesn't mean they aren't any good. We've snagged some pretty amazing players who went under the radar and have recieved national awards. Ex: D'Anthony Smith will be playing the senior's bowl.

Finally, we had more TV time this year then any previous year. We were the featured game on ESPN quite a few times. THe most notable appearence on TV being the Hawaii game earlier in the season.

Just a little info :)

I was skeptical like most on VN, but Dooley seems like the perfect fit here. Congrats to Hammy and everyone involved on landing this guy...I just wish we could have had him before the LANE TRAIN got on the tracks in Knoxville...I think he will do one hell of a job and I am very excited to see him get to work.

Someone else pointed that out earlier. Had I remembered at the time of my post, I would've used it against him! Thanks. It seems fairly obvious to me that he has not done any research on CDD and is just being stubborn.

I really think CDD is gonna be a great coach for UT. It will tickle me to death to see things get a bit tighter in the SECe!

thanks for the insight, i am still a little aprehensive but all the comments from the bammers and lsu fans have been easing my worries a little bit.

My brother worked for several months on the pipeline in West Monroe and he was totally blown away over how much he enjoyed it their.He really thought a lot of the locals,and has commented several times about how nice they where.

Again for all the geography majors, I've lived in TN for almost 11 years now, I did say Shreveport instead of Ruston, but it doesn't change the fact that I know La. FOOTBALL. Dooley is a better coach than Kiffin & Fulmer, recruiting will not drop one iota, and UThug will disappear, and you get a coach on the rise who will out work and out coach every other in the SEC. He is Saban-lite, same great taste, half the dickhead.

You claim to know Louisiana football, yet you don't even know where the college is? I'm from North Carolina and even I knew La Tech was in Ruston.
