...and the coaching ranks have certainly grown. I've not really gone back to read through the myriad comments on Monte/Orgeron/Chaney.

One thought from here though... All the 'NFL caliber coaching' talk from Lane... Aside from the obvious (Monte) where is it? Chaney spent some time in the League, but mostly built his chops at Purdue.

Orgeron has some NFL checks, but his cred comes from recruiting at Miami/SC/Ole Miss.

Cregg is an NFL guy, but a bit short on props.

If the plane ever lands from Athens with WonderGarner on board we will have further proof of where I'm heading with this...

What Kiffin has really built is an all star recruiting team. Good coaches to be sure, but not really NFL resumes.

This is not a complaint from me, but let's be honest about what is being built here...

BTW, it's good to be back.

Go Vols!

I'm thinking it's more about guys who will put you in the NFL rather than just NFL coaches. The guys he is targeting have a good record of doing that at previous stops

don't forget Reaves at USCe...
He's building a recruiting juggernaut, hope it translates on the field

But the staff has the look / feel of an NFL staff much moreso than a college staff.

Exactly.

And, while they may not all be career-NFL guys, they've all had (minus Reaves), at least, a stint in the league.

Their collegiate success, mixed with their NFL experience, gives UT and its recruits the best of both worlds. An all-star cast of recruiters, who can speak from experience on what NFL coaching staffs will be looking for when drafting college players.

The staff certainly has the NFL look and feel and the recruiting guru status but let's be real about it......winning big games and championships will be our best recruiter.

Teachers.....mentors.....coaches....wild boys! Putting the fun back into UT football.

I like what I'm seeing so far. It will translate into recruits and on the field performance. Not holding out high hopes but still am hoping they can turn around and get some great recruits in the short period of time they have to work with.

Didn't Monte say he was kind of over a bunch of things? I interpreted that to mean he would bring his NFL coaching experience to the other coaches, mentor them in coaching NFL prepared players. I figured that's why we got M. Kiffin AND Orgeron.
