My Heisman ballot...your thoughts?

Can you think of another QB that could have led Florida to an undefeated year this season in the toughest conference in college football?

This right here is twofold why I have no respect for the Heisman Trophy.

1.) You have a vote.
2.) There are people that can justify their votes for throwing any name into the hat.

There are at least 5 or QB's that could have led UF through the unusually weak SEC this year.

Jessie Palmer stated yesterday, that Gerhart shouldn't win the Heisman because, even though the leads the nation in yardage (over 1700) and td's (26), he doesn't play for a winner. Stanford lost 4 games this year.
BUT.... didn't Tebow win the Heisman after loosing to Auburn, LSU AND Georgia? So 4 losses disqualifies you, but only 3 doesn't?
IMHO Ingram won the award yesteday. Colt was not impressive and Tebow was a joke, but Gerhart (and Suh) deserve serious consideration!

Anyone but Tebow. Sorry, he's a great player and kid but I'm just burnt out on the Tebow over exposure.

Surely Tebow will not win after that awful performance yesterday. Some kind folks need to realize they do not have to preface negative Tebow comments with how awesome a person he is. I mean talk about over-glorified.

It's Colt McCoy's year.

McCoy shouldn't win it simply because he almost ruined his team's chances at even getting a chance to kick a field goal last night. A real leader needs to be more aware of the game-clock.

Tebow gets an Emmy nomination for best dramatic performance - crying after the loss to Bama.

Agreed as well. That was a defense game to the max. Suh was incredible for Neb.

I know i was hoping he was going to run it out. Then we could watch the BCS try to figure that one out.

C. J. Spiller. In my mind not even close. Played hurt all year. Put up almost 150 rushing yards and 2 tds IN THE FIRST HALF of the ACC Championship game. Had 4 total tds. It's not even a contest for me.

The two games this year I've watched Nebraska play, I've been absolutely wowed by Ndamukong Suh. I couldn't understand why a defensive lineman was in the running for the Heisman, but now I get it.

The dude excels on the line, blocks field goals (three this year), AND gets lined up in the backfield and doesn't suck horribly at it.

Guy's by far the most valuable player in the country, no doubt.

The order they should finish in:
1) Gerhart
2) Ingram
3) McCoy

I don 't want Ingram to win it . He was not able to do anything against auburn , I know he was dinged up in that one but the injury happened late. I would rather see Tebow win it than Ingram simply because I don't want bama to get one before us . That said I think he won it yesterday to.

Yes, I am reconsidering....

Consider this, Griff; the Heisman is supposed to go to the most outstanding player in college football, however that gets defined. In all of the pretend hype for the Heisman playoff publicity contest, I think that gets lost.

Mark Ingram is a very good back for an outstanding team; does anyone really believe he is the most outstanding player in football? Playing with Jones and Cody and McClain, I"m not sure he's the most outstadning player on his team. Toby Gerhart is a very good back for a surprisingly good team, but that doesn't equal most outstanding, either.

As bad as I hate to admit it, the most outstanding player is Tim Tebow. That's arguable, expecially by McCoy supporters who have several good points. There are a couple of stat monster guys from Houston or Clemson that should be considered and discarded. But this is a two horse raise between quarterbacks, and your vote should depend on whether you value Tebow's unconventional and somewhat intangible winning ways over McCoy's, who are somewhat more measurable.

I'm not sure why Ingram gets discarded because of the presence of great players. I would say Spikes, Dunlap, and Haden are all superior players to Tebow. Aaron Hernandez isn't too shabby either. And Julio Jones did essentially nothing for 9 games while Ingram carried the Tide on his back.

Also, look what Tebow did against LSU vs. what Jake Locker did. Who's got the better supporting cast?

McCoy
Ingram
Gerhart
Spiller
Suh

Even though McCoy had an awful game last night his team still won. He also has been one of the top 3 Qbs all year (along with Keenum and Clausen). I think Ingram's performance in the SECC was a huge boost for him but against Auburn hurt him because more than likely some voters turne their ballots in early.

The Heisman Trophy is supposed to go to the best player in the nation, regardless of position, team, or record. It is not described as the best player on a top 15 team, or a team with a great record or even an offensive player. It should go to the best player. Maybe Suh from Nebraska, CJ Spiller, Gerhart, McCoy because of his accuracy, LeFevour, maybe even throw in a Freddie Barnes. It's is the best player in America, not all the other things.

I'd love to see Suh get an invite, but I'd wager last night was the first time a good number of the voters have ever seen him play.

The Heisman is a popularity contest. The media plays a huge roll in it all of course (voting, swaying voters, brainwashing the hapless masses). Hey, that sounds like a Presidential campaign. Seriously, Ingram had a great game Saturday and a great year. Colt had a great year but a bad championship game (almost lost it for his team in the last seconds of the game). I haven't seen the Gerhart kid and they say he is fantastic. So Ingram or Gerhart.

Colt McCoy will win despite his extremely poor performances in games against quality defenses and his many interceptions. Most of the Heisman voters are white and like white QBs to win the award. Sorry Ingram. Sorry Spiller.

Ndamukong Suh is the best pound for pound player in the country period. If the Heisman was based only on talent he would win hands down. But its not so after tonight I have no idea who's going to win. Probably McCoy.

its starting to look like suh will get invited at least, which speaks to his overall quality as a player. a pure interior defensive lineman getting votes is incredible.

He looked like a Hiesman player against Texas. That's the only game I saw him play, but there definitely wasn't another Heisman-worthy player on the field that day (e.g. no way Colt's performance does the trick).

Ingram is good, but he's not as exciting as Spiller. I don't know what Spiller would do against SEC defenses, but he looks like a man among boys in the ACC.

There's a strong case to be made that Bama should have a Heisman winner, but maybe Ingram isn't it. He's not the best to play for the Tide, but others likely experienced the Big 10 / Pac 10 media bias that is my first thought about what's wrong with the Trophy.

If I had to vote, I'd think about Suh and try to find more film on him. I'd also watch more of Spiller and probably choose between those two.
