My Heisman ballot...your thoughts?

This is the reason why the Heisman is tarnished and the people who vote for the players are less than right about their choices. I have absolutely no interest in an opinion formed before they even watch the Conference Championships. McCoy and Tebow are the leaders, who ever has the best day should win. Politics aside. I understand it to be your choice, your reasons, but I disagree with the timing.

so judging by the last few sentences of your article you are going to vote for Rod Wilks. Shocking. They oughta just name it the Wilks-Heisman trophy.

Gerhart or McCoy with Keenum and Shipley on their heels.
If you feel the need to send more than these to NYC, Suh (sp?) from Nebraska and EBerry.

If you take all the intangibles he brings to the table he is. We all know that there will be half off circumcisions at halftime in the ATL though.

Gerhart and McCoy are both clearly better players than Tebow and the next few years in the NFL will show that. I'm not saying Tebow isn't a special player right now, but he's doesn't deserve a single first place vote.

Not saying I'll change my mind....but I will take the whole season into consideration....and this is the last Saturday before the votes are due, you know?

If Tebow has a complete meltdown...which I don't anticipate...and Ingram does something incredible...or McCoy carries his team (can't imagine that either, they are playing Nebraska...

Just saying, I'll consider everything. That's the responsible thing to do....agree?

I'm gonna bring up a point about Tebow that Mark Schlabach said: I don't understand how the Heisman was about stats two years ago when we were pimpin Tebow, but this year is how about leadership/team accolades.

Tebow's numbers aren't good enough, period. Yeah, he's a leader and all that, but his passing numbers are worse than Crompton's in terms of yards/td's. Running wise, they aren't that impressive. Vince Young was better than Tebow, yet VY10 never got teh hype that Tebow did, and a lot of it is Tebow's good boy rep. Tebow is not the Heisman winner.

My ballot

1. Colt McCoy
2. Toby Gerhart
3. Mark Ingram
4. Tim Tebow
5. C.J. Spiller

Not really. The only way anyone can justify him as the best is to bring up stuff about "willing" and "desire" and "dedication". It's as if Mark Ingram, Toby Gerhart, and Colt McCoy just show up and play without concern for the game's outcome.

No one wants to point out that Tebow's best season is the one in which he's done the least.

swap teams -- Teblow to stanford, Gerhart to the 'turds.

who then looks more impressive?

support staff plays a huge role, but the Heistman never goes to a great player on a lesser team. "best player in college football" is far off the mark.

What I fail to realize is that with all the talk of how people want a playoff system, and that the little guy should get a shot, should it not translate over to individual honors? Especially when there are starting QBs in the NFL from Harvard and Delaware who have proved their worth. Just doesn't seem right.
