It's official. After 13 years of reflection, I've decided that Jar of Flies is tops on my list.

I know this is random, but it's amazing how music can hold so many memories and emotions of your past.

That's exactly what I mean. I have a few CD's/iPod albums that rotate for a while, then fade away and come back around. But, AIC's acoustic masterpiece has stood the test of time for me.

A thought like this is as subjective as it gets, as I believe that 50% of musical worth is put into it by the listener.

I understand what you're saying, but I always come back to the same several albums and my mood does the choosing between them.

Jar of Flies is a good one.

For me, Iggy Pop's New Values has been a consistent favorite of mine since I heard it in the 80's.

Other's at the top:

NRBQ - God Bless Us All and Tapdancin' Bats
Led Zep - Physical Graffitti
Miles Davis - Milestones
Charles Mingus - Ah Um

Lep's Hysteria is the one for me (some people would say Pyromania , and it's a close 2nd). IMO, Appetite was much better than the Use Your Illusions, but that's just me.

Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska
I'm with hat on Morrison Hotel
Led Zep - 2
Radiohead - OK Computer
Rage Against the Machine - Evil Empire

those are all somewhere in my top 20 for sure.

I would also say Jar of Flies if it weren't for Swing On This, which I despise. The other 5 songs are absolutely amazing though.

As for my favorite album, I'll stick with Alice and say Facelift. I could listen to only that every day for the rest of my life and be just fine with it.

Did Appetite actually have that many good songs on it? I can think of five, maybe 6. I dont have the playlist in front of me though.

Welcome to the Jungle, Mr Brownstone, It's so Easy, Paradise City, Think About You, You're Crazy, Rocket Queen, and My Michelle (an underrated personal favorite.) That's pretty good for a album that isn't some sort of compilation.

If I had to pick one album it would probably be Legend, although that's cheating a little bit, as it is kind of a greatest hits. If I had to stick with an original release, I'd probably go with Ten or August and Everything After.

I'd probably add something from Zeppelin to my list, although since I really don't know what album. IV, maybe? They are certainly the most played artist on my ipod.

EDIT: II, III, and Houses of the Holy are really good, too.

Albums that I keep coming back to...

Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine
Zero 7 - When It Falls
Mos Def & Talib Kweli - Black Star
Thursday - War All The Time
Sublime - S/T
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie...
Brand New - Deja Entendu*
Further Seems Forever - How To Start A Fire
Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
Senses Fail - From The Depths Of Dreams

* I like Deja Entendu a lot, but the more I listen to it, the more I start to think that The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me is one of (if not) the best alternative albums of the last decade.

The self titled Rage Against the Machine album is probably at the top of my list.

Metallica: Black Album
Seven Mary Three: American Standard
Stephen Lynch: A Little Bit Special, Superhero, The Craig Machine
