Leadership is bad. Fulmer and Pruitt was also hired against their wishes. I never would have dreamed either. At the time of firing Fulmer, which i was ready for change, I was to ignorant on how poor the leadership actually was. Loser way of running a winning football program!!!

are going to go by with a 1-19 record vs. Florida and Alabama. Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how much this program has declined in the last 10 years.

I'm honestly not amazed anymore. I've succumbed to the Vandy rivalry level. Somebody rescue me.

Exact same as me. Was ready for change and thought it was time, but completely underestimated the level of incompetence at the top. No way a program with the resources and tradition of UT should be this bad for this long.

Look at this way. When the Vols become relevant again it will be that much sweeter. If you were a fan that started following Tennessee in say 1989 you were pretty well spoiled by the end of the nineties. The last six years kind of reminds me of Battles last team and Johnny’s first few teams. That made 1985 and 1989 seasons that I’ll never forget.

JImmy Haslam has proved that he really sux at trying to influence hires in the administration and coaching dept. We desperately need Fulmer and Pruitt to fix it bc I do not trust the ppl in charge of decisions. I feel like this is do or die.

I wore my vintage ā€œback to back sec championshipā€ T-shirt a couple weeks ago and my 19 year old son asked me how depressing it was that UT hasn’t won SEC since the December before he was born. Didn’t really have a good come back because I’ve over used the ā€œwe’re gonna be back in a couple yearsā€ excuse.

I was at UT from 1997-2000 and if you had told me how far the program would fall I would have said you were damn crazy.

I was 10 in 1998. 5th grade.

Now I’m 30 with a wife and a kid and a dog and a business and yea...you get the idea. I’ve made some weird decisions in the last 20 years, but always found a way out and corrected them. It baffles me that the University of Tennessee can’t figure out a way to do the same.

After going through this crap with this poor leadership....ha im not believing anything great until I see it. Fulmer and Pruitt have to prove they can raise this from the dead. And being a 7-8 win program is not my standard.

Also, even going back to majors, I don’t think we’ve had a HC with the full intent of all out aggressiveness as Pruitt. Kiffin was pretty aggressive. I like Pruitt regularly going for it on 4th down, doing onside kicks, and also sending a message when the game is over (getting trounced) that we are going to practice running the ball and not go for meaningless scores. So, with next year schedule assumed easier, more talent and another year of setting expectations we will be on our path back.

Look! In my 55 years, I have seen the mighty Nebraska Corn Buskers fall. I saw Okla homo fall after Barry Seltzer left and they stayed down for many years. I am now seeing Miami fall to levels not seen by them since the mid 70s. I saw Syracuse, Southern Cal fall also
We are no different. Once a program slips, the smart thing to-do is to take your time on the next hire. If you hire the wrong guy, then you slip further down. If you make the correct hire, you can recover
Example: When Spurrier left for Redskins, Florida hired Zook. The program then slipped. They quickly recovered by hiring Urban Cried
UT didn't make a good hire after Fulmer. We fell but Florida only slipped for a couple of years

My thirties . . . that seems so long ago, but I can remember them like it was yesterday. UT didn't suck back then. I remember thinking some years were a little under par, but I had no idea of the roller-coaster the future would offer.

Like Peyton once said, "enjoy the wins; all of them."

I took Tennessee football to selfish early in my life. I remember after the 1995 and 1996 season saying Manning is not the one to beat florida. And Fulmer shud go. I always thought Tennessee could get someone that could be in the national championship game every single year and beat Florida . Even in 2007 as we all were asking for a new coach......my friend looked at me and said "he wins ten games a year almost take it easy on him". Boy do I miss him and his ten win seasons. I don't understand why the last ten years has been complete garbage almost. I just want to have a decent team back.

Plus I live in Alabama and these fans can go to effing hell. šŸ˜‚

I feel you. I’ve only been watching since 2007. That means I’m 1-19 against Bama and UF in that time. Bama is understandable to a point, but only winning 1 vs UF is infuriating. Should have at least 3 or 4 more wins in that time frame.

I remember meeting older fans of other programs, back when I was younger, and hearing them express things like ā€œI may never see X program win a national title in my lifetime,ā€ or ā€œit’d be nice if we were competitive,ā€ or even ā€œI just want to be in the mix.ā€ Fans of programs like Kentucky, or Vanderbilt, or Texas Tech, and so on. I remember hearing them talk about their programs and being mystified by how dejected they sounded. How resigned. From my vantage as a 90s Tennessee fan, winning wasn’t that tough if you were committed. Hell, if we could have just whipped Florida, even national titles wouldn’t have been that tough. We were on the cusp of the era of Tennesse.

But now I know better. Much better. Now, I find their same thoughts creeping into my mind. How long until Tennessee is even competitive again? 2020? 2025? Or further? Even then, there are great programs who go entire decades without sniffing a championship. Some haven’t even been in the conversation since the 80s, or longer. So could it be for Tennessee. An inconceivable thought once. But now? Very conceivable.
