My dilemma

this thread turned into another 360 circle jerk. i knew it. all you need now is 182 as the pivot man.

:)

What's with PS3ers and their little man complex? I would probably say the same thing to someone wanting to get a 360 that already had a PS3. I just don't think it's worth splitting your time on two consoles.

Not sure if you are serious not. Just sayin'.

What's wrong with PSN? It sems to run pretty smooth most of the time. As for party chat who cares. Usually it's just a bunch a kids or dopeheads talkin stupid. I rarely use my Bluetooth for my ps3 unless I'm playing something 1 on 1 with a friend.

i was joking (see the :)), but if you are a gamer and have the money why not go for it? i have all 3 systems. i enjoy the ps3 the most. which system is best is not what this thead is about. we have been down that road many, many times.

So.......i've finally got a little bit of extra cash to spend, and i've been thinking about getting a PS3 to experience the best of both worlds. The problem is every time I come close to telling myself to go ahead and buy it I talk myself out of it. Don't get me wrong, I think the PS3 has several things going for it, especially with the built in BlueRay. But my main problem with it is the game library......there's just hardly anything there. It has hardly any exclusives and alot of the games on it I can play on the 360. If I knew for a fact that Sony's game selection would eventually expand and have alot more to offer then this would probably be a no-brainer.....but it's been out for several years now and it's beginning to look like it's library isn't ever going to be what I want it to be.
So I guess my main questions for you guys is....is it actually worth the money? I've almost talked myself out of it at this point, but thought that I would get some input from some of the gamers on here before I make a final decision. Input from people who actually have both a 360 and a PS3 to compare would be appreciated.

If thats what you think, theres not going to be much anyone can say to change your mind. Just spend your extra cash on more games for your 360. If you arent happy with the PS3 current line up of games, what makes you think youd play it enough to warrent purchasing it? It not like its a new console. They have what they have. If you dont care for it why bother buying the system?

because there are still games on the ps3 that i've always been interested in playing.....but there are only about 6 or 7 of them....tops. and several of those titles probably wouldn't have a ton of replay value either....at least not to me. the main things that would have meritted me actually purchasing it would have been the ability to play some of the better exclusives, the fact that it doubles as a blueray player, and the possibility to try out Home (although i've heard everyone say it sucks hard.)

if you are heavy into facebook or myspace, you might like home. it's really not even worth looking at imo.

I have both. Love both. If you haven't already purchased a blu-ray player, I think you should go ahead and get the PS3.

Home is just stupid imo.

If you want to fork out $250-$300 for a Blu ray player and the ability to play 6-7 games that once you beat youll shelve and never pick up again then it sounds like a good investment.

There's alot more than 6-7 games worth playing on ps3 & if u play any online it's that much better. If u want alot better graphics, free online, blueray, & much more go with the ps3. U even get a better controller. Who cares about party chat.

ehhh..i don't know about that. the 360 controller is one of the most comfortable controllers i've ever held. and party chat is pretty cool to have and can come in handy alot of time. alot of people on here that bash it are the ones that have never used it. i'm not saying you're one of those people, but that's how the arguments are alot of the time.

just out of curiosity, what other games are there that you think are worth playing? i counted a few ps3 games that were exclusives off the top of my head that i was interested in. everything else i could play on the xbox.

Isn't the PS3 blue ray not as good or something? I heard someone say that but never verified it...I heard that a new Bluray player will give better picture and sound then using a PS3? I love my bluray I stream Netflix through it...Duck I would save money and just buy a really nice TV...I have a samsung 50in Plasma and it is the best purchase of my life...I can no longer watch TV unless it is Plasma or a really nice LCD...changed my life.

an HDTV was probably my second choice if i didn't go through with this purchase. i'd like to get a nice little entertainment center going and i wouldn't mind getting a medium sized lcd to go along with it.......but i've heard that a plasma is better suited towards sports and gaming, so i'll probably end up going with that if i actually buy one.

i think we've finally gotten to a great point here, if you've got the extra cash to spend on something, go for the HDTV first, you're xbox will even almost seem like something new just over how great the games look. i was always a playstation guy but when it came time to decide between xbox 360 or ps3, i knew a couple of people on xbox and no one psn so i went that route and still love it today. i talked myself into a ps3 i guess somewhere around a year ago and i really do like it. i play both pretty much equally, which honestly isn't much at all. i got my ps3 pretty much just so i could play mlb the show and i now have a couple of others i play here and there but if you're looking to play online a lot, which i only do on the xbox, look at who you're going to be playing with. if you already have a stable of friends on live, why would you switch to a system where you don't really have the amount of friends that you're going to play with, unless you play random people a lot. i think if you enjoy xbox and playing on live, then odds are you won't play the ps3 much, seems to be the case with people i know that had xbox first.

my one question on the blue ray part is, mainly pointed at duckman, are you going to shell out $20+ everytime a movie comes out to get it on blueray or do you go the netflix route, basically, how much are you honestly going to use it? the movies look great on it but with all the options of getting to movies these days, is that a major part you're considering?

Duck with a medium to large HDTV you will actually be better at the games. It is a lot different. Of course you will need to hook up xbox via hdmi. Do you live in Apt...Dorm? I mean if you are settled somewhere go ahead and get a big one but if you are still moving around I would get a medium LCD. Easier to move around. Plasma is the best unless you get a super expensive LCD but it is heavier as it has a real glass screen. If you are going to be moving a lot I would go with LCD for now until you are settled somewhere then for you big tv get a plasma. I had just bought my first home when I bought mine. It will not be moving for a few years so not a big deal. I also got Geek Squad Warranty on it..so anything happens to it with in 5 years and it is fixed or replaced. If I throw something at it and crack it they fix it. If you do plasma this is a must as you can burn spots in tv...I have not but like that I do not have to worry for 5 years just in case.

yeah, i'm pretty much "in transition" at the moment. i just graduated from school so i've moved out of the dorms but will probably be getting an apartment fairly soon.

i would probably be more than satisfied with either an lcd or a plasma, but i've always been cautious with getting an lcd because i've heard some of them blur when displaying fast moving sequences such as in sports and games. i've heard about burn in issues with the plasmas also.....but alot of people have said that that problem has been addressed with the newer models.
