So.......i've finally got a little bit of extra cash to spend, and i've been thinking about getting a PS3 to experience the best of both worlds. The problem is every time I come close to telling myself to go ahead and buy it I talk myself out of it. Don't get me wrong, I think the PS3 has several things going for it, especially with the built in BlueRay. But my main problem with it is the game library......there's just hardly anything there. It has hardly any exclusives and alot of the games on it I can play on the 360. If I knew for a fact that Sony's game selection would eventually expand and have alot more to offer then this would probably be a no-brainer.....but it's been out for several years now and it's beginning to look like it's library isn't ever going to be what I want it to be.

So I guess my main questions for you guys is....is it actually worth the money? I've almost talked myself out of it at this point, but thought that I would get some input from some of the gamers on here before I make a final decision. Input from people who actually have both a 360 and a PS3 to compare would be appreciated.

I very seldom use my PS3 other than for watching movies, personally.

The Show is great, but the multi player isnt that good, and I can only play RTTS so much.

Most games worth a snot are on both consoles, and I have alot more friends with 360 than PS3. Just my 2 cents.

if you've got the extra coin, go for it. everyone knows where i stand on the debate even with the YLOD, but that said i still like the fact that i have both options if a game comes out for one or the other i really am interested in.

Just wait for Natal to come out and buy that. Plus theres too many games comming out late summer early fall to waste money on a PS3.

To name a few:

1. Alan Wake (5/18/2010)
2. Read Dead Redemption (5/18/2010)
3. Alpha Protocol (6/1/2010)
4. Crackdown 2 (7/6/2010)
5. NCAA Football 11 (7/13/2010)
6. Mafia II (8/24/2010)
7. Dead Rising 2 (8/31/2010)
8. Max Payne 3 (10/1/2010)
9. Fallout: New Vegas (10/1/2010)
10.Enslaved (11/1/2010)

I dont know your game tastes, but all those are either Xbox exclusives or for both consoles...I say nay.

other than ncaa and maybe fallout most of those game would probably be rentals for me. i usually don't buy single player games unless they have a ton of replay value. that being said i'll definitely be playing alan wake and probably red dead as well. both of them have looked pretty good so far.

i'm still not sure about natal, but i'm going to go out on a limb and say that i probably won't be buying. there's a reason i don't have a wii.....and it's the same reason i probably won't be purchasing natal.

Understandable, but Red Dead has MP (you could be in my posse, haha), and Crackdown/Dead Rising are both Co-op, but I understand. Also the main reason Im pumped for Natal is the voice recognition. Imagine in NCAA 12 calling out your plays or saying "hike" instead of pressing a button, that sounds awesome to me. The motion controls are just a bonus.

i've always meant to try out dead rising but never have. probably need to get ahold of the first one before 2 comes out.

I'd just save the money - buy some more games - RDR should be a permanent buy, not a rental - or spend it on something else.

If ur gonna get a blueray u may as well get a ps3 just make sure to get the extended warranty & a flash drive to backup data. I don't know what ur game tastes are but ps3 offers plenty of variety IMO. I had a 40gb my first time & the hdd went out after 9 months. I sent it to sony & got a new 1 back. This 1 lasted 2 1/2 yrs before I got ylod which is probably partially my fault for having it on days at a time. Now I have a 120 slim & all is good so far. I have extended warranty this time but if I didn't & it broke I would still get another ps3 before I got a 360.

Don't do it Duck. You can spend your money on much better things than another console.

yeah, it's like i said i've pretty much talked myself out of it at this point, but i just wanted to see what some others on here thought. my 360 has been really reliable for the 2 and a half years that i've had it and i don't really think a ps3 would be much of an investment when most of the good games can be played on the 360 anyway. just wanted some additional input.

I mean - it's nothing against the PS3 - but since you already have a console that offers pretty much the same stuff, plus and minus a few things - you could spend that money in better areas.

I hardly play my ps3 and all my friends are on live. I wouldn't waste your money unless you were unhappy with xbox.

I have both systems and i havent turned my xbox on in months. I think ps3 is better graphically. But its really just a personal choice. If you want it, go for it. But once i got my ps3 i havent looked back. Like it way more than my 360. And i dont like having to pay for xbox live whereas PSN is free.

Yeah but you can't even compare Psn to live. You get what you pay for

this thread turned into another 360 circle jerk. i knew it. all you need now is 182 as the pivot man.

Some would say you could replace the word circle with "360" as it would represent a full circle. Thus the phrase 360 circle jerk is redundant.

Man I'm f'n bored today. :)

I will second this, everything is much smoother, easier to find, and generally more intuitive with the live setup as opposed to psn.

I've had both systems, but I just enjoy my ps3 more. I honestly can't tell you the last time I turned my 360 on. I have had some trouble out of 360s before, and have had to fix many red light of death problems for people in the past. It seems that MS has fixed that problem though and I would not see any harm in getting one now. It is really all about personal preference. I also have more friends that own ps3's then 360s, so that is another reason I enjoy the ps3 over the 360

I love my 360, but I'm predicting PS to regain their crown in the next round of systems.
