I took my 9 year old to her first game Saturday. Took her to see The statue of Neyland and explained who he was and why he was so important to us as a fanbase. We just happened to be at the right place at the right time during the vol walk, an officer pulled a few kids to come up front and shake players and coaches hands. My little one got to shake hands with Butch, Dobbs, Vickers, Berry and countless others. I was much more torn up about it than she was.
I haven't been to Knoxville for 15+ years. What an awesome experience for her. It was a little hot and the game was a little disappointing but I think a seed was planted. She loved the pregame traditions, the crowd and the band. Thanks vols for a great weekend. We will be back soon. She wants to go back but this year. Doubt that will happen due to finances but we will be back...... And maybe if I'm lucky many years from now I can take her children to their first game!

Go Vols!

I remember my 2 girls first game. It was 2011 USCe. During the Vol Walk the Smokey mascot (not the real dog) ran up and hugged them both. Now they think it's supposed to happen every time. Congrats on y'alls experience.

Wonderful story and may I say, your alot more positive than our other resident named KB!

I saw what others have seen. There are issues in scheme and preparation. Hopefully those are coaches sandbagging and players overlooking opponents, bottom line we must play better next week to be in this game.

I just loved being back in that stadium and even happier to have brought the thing that means the most to me to watch the game and team I love. I will call them out when they deserve it but for that game with her beside me it was pure, it was right, and better yet we won.

Great game day experience for you and your daughter! I took my daughter to her first game in Neyland:pepper: vs UGA in 1999. It rained the whole game but we won. We have only missed a couple years since then but the first game is a memory both of us cherish! :yahoo:

Awesome story OP.

I live 4 hours away. Two kids @ 3 and 5 years old. Get to 1 game per year. It's special for me too.

I also took my 5 year old to his first ever game on Saturday. He was most impressed with the Ohio band. I have to admit they were damn good.

In his defense, the actual game was pretty dull.
