"...way back in time, they had Lane Kiffin."

I'm guessing the guy who made this video is well below 40 years old. Heh.

On his analysis, though, I think this is too simplistic a view of what Thursday's game showed us.

Specifically, to watch a game in which the opponent completely sold out to stop the pass, and from that conclude that the strength of the Vols offense is the running game, badly ignores the opponent's vote. We had a great night rushing _because_ BGSU sold out on the pass.

If Pitt's coaching staff over-reacts in the same way the lad making this video did, we might see Milton and the receivers lighting it up in game two, while our running game is brought down a peg.

I don't think the Pitt coaching staff is that simple in their understanding of the game, though. I think they'll give us a more balanced defense to attack. Which means we should see a good mix of both run and pass.

Go Vols!

If the Reads by the QB are correct.

I think it’s foolish to draw many conclusions from game 1 against BG. We did some things wrong did some things right, lots of teams struggled and even lost against inferior opponents this week. We’ll see what we got Saturday

What’s the opening line? Anyone know?

The guy in the video below is optimistic about Tennessee:

However, on this board, I am getting very different messages. Who is correct?

Just watched part of a sports show on tv and the sports writers were still predicting a 4 or 5 win season - primarily based off of our qb and passing game struggles. If that somehow improves, so too could go our season and record. Qb play is critical as we know and can mean the difference between 8 wins and 5 wins.

Haven’t seen one yet, my guess is we’ll be about 2.5 point favorites. Pitt looks like they might have a suspect offensive line. Hard to tell what either of us have. We need Neyland to make some damn noise

I don't think the Pitt game is going to be that easy; hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply degree of ease in my post. Only the focus of their defense, run v pass. I think we're going to see a pretty balanced opponent.

How tough or easy that goes for us, well, we are all intensely interested to find that out.

Go Vols!

Right I anticipate a rowdy crowd throughout as long as the players are making plays. I’ve always heard they automatically spot the home team 3 points, so if we are indeed 2.5 favorites, that pretty much makes it a pick em.

We lost a ton of talent from a team that was already bad and we had a bad recruiting class.

Everyone should be down on this team

I agree Milton could have done better, I'm more upset with his smash mouth running, or lack thereof once he has made up his mind to tuck and run. His passing wouldn't have been so bad if our receivers would Catch catchable passses

Yet none of that was a factor on Saturday.
Bad QB play...as has been the past 4 years...was the problem!

No Eric Gray or Ty Chandler- we still had two 100 yard rushers.

No Henry To'oto'o- BG with less tha. 50 yarda rushing and 2 field goals.

QB was the problem.
Qb IS the problem.

Is has been for 4 YEARS.....
WHY, are people trying to use any other excuse???

Because when you inherent a really bad team with a bad recruiting class and a bad group of QBs, it takes more than 1 game

This is the simple response to the game. The game live was so different than on TV listening to the Vandy loser commentator. If JM could not find a WIDE ASS OPEN receiver in this game how is he going to perform against top defensive db’s? It’s not that he made terrible decisions, it’s that he could not make a decision at all with 10 seconds to do so and receivers running wild.

The one thing my dad pointed out when we talked and I agree with is that we made less mistakes that killed drives like I saw with both Jones and Pruitt. At times, it seems like we had good offenses that just could not get out of their own way due to the mistakes.

We had a couple of holding calls that ruined one TD and then the fumble but other than that, we were pretty mistake free.

In the past 3 seasons, Bowling Green's record is 6-23, with wins over always tough Akron (2), dangerous Central Michigan, nasty Eastern KY, tough as nails Toledo and grueling Morgan State.

We played BG with one arm behind our back. Not intentionally mind you, but we still won by a lot of points. Unbridled blind enthusiasm for this team is not recommended if you have any coronary issues
