My crazy way at looking at our offensive line:#1. Years of Experience Combined; This year we have
No Seniors (0 total games played at UT) (0% experience)
2 Red Shirt Seniors (6 total games played at UT) (0.20% experience)
1 Junior (no games played at UT) ((.003% experience)
3 Red Shirt Juniors (68 games played at UT) (3.40% experience)
1 Sophomore (15 games played at UT) (1.50% experience)
4 Freshmen (9 games played at UT)
3 Red Shirt Freshmen (5 games played at UT) (2.2% experience)
As you can see, the amount of games played and the amount of experience is not very much. On a look at the Star rating for these players. Stars range from a high of 3.7 stars for a player who is a Red shirt freshman to some who are walkons and in my examination could find no star for them. The sad fact that adding up all the stars and dividing by the number of listed linemen, we come up with a dismal 2.007 average.

What does all this mess mean...I guess we are not very good. Not much to work with here and in all seriousness, I don't think you should expect too much from this group of athletes. Afterall, they are trying, the fact of the matter is, they just don't have a whole lot to work with. Just My Opinion, thanks for looking.

I think you're over-ANALyzing the obvious.

On the Coach to Coach radio show yesterday Coach Fulmer said when he needed OL he would take the two or three DL that weren't getting a lot of playing time and flip them to the OL. He said he had gotten a couple of All American's doing that.

Quit posting facts, it clouds the narrative

Yes, you are probably right (lol). I guess the point I am trying to make is, don't expect too much from this group. Kinda like my favorite saying..."Yes you can enter your mule in the Kentucky Derby, just don't expect him to win"! That is where this group is, hate to say it!

In highschool ball do people play a lot of offense and defense position wise? As in your O line probably plays D line as well?

He also said that the OL position is the last position prior to practice squad.

And Dooley signed no offensive linemen in the 2012 class. That was him giving the bird to UT cause he knew he was gone

Didn't WE have depth issues on the D-line this year? I think they have done a hell of a good job, But who do you move ? I also believe the seniors on D and a couple upper classmen have made our D work. Also the SEC coaches they have .

The bottom line is......they're terrible, just terrible! Some people can say "well they're young"...."they're trying"..."they're working hard and giving great effort"....but the bottom line is...they are simply terrible.

Metaphorically speaking, instead of five granite blocks, we have five tablespoons of mayonnaise . It is what it is, cue the flamers!

You have two guards playing tackle and a freshman DL playing guard. Jackson is probably legit and Crowder is probably serviceable as a center.

These kids and coaches are doing the best they can with the cards they have been dealt.

Number 77 is retreating WAY too much way too often. Not going to name names. He isn't the only one however, we are young but it is time they fight harder not less. They need to show some fire, yesterday was a WEAK effort by our O-Line youth and all. GO VOLS!!!

I believe CBJ has a plan for the future, why else would he stick with the current starting five? Saving red shirts regardless of W or L is a very gutsy move. :twocents:

Don't forget that Butch already flipped a D-Lineman over to the O-Line to get another starter with Jashon Robertson. We're horribly thin on both lines, but the D-Line is performing much better.

I don't disagree with anything except this.

Yesterday was a complete embarrassment by this O line.

The experience excuse doesn't hold water because they should have been able to overwhelm UTC physically.

This line is just incredibly soft and seems willing to sit back and get their a--es kicked weekly.

I'm not ready to give up on those freshmen just yet. I'm hoping Weisman can get out there and upgrade the line ever so slightly at Center or RG. I think Jackson is the only one playing average or better. Maybe he should be next to audition for LT (I see him having more speed and athleticism than KK). Kerbyson is fine at guard.
